Yep, I've been a Cokeaholic since I was a kid. Still am, even though Pepsi was first bottled right here in the Carolinas, Coke is still better.

Used to love pounding down a 6.5-icy cold, then
flipping the bottle to read the city and state on the bottom.
Simple joy.

Sad to see it end. Those bottles were the coolest thing.

I don't think the overpriced thin throwaway bottles that you find in 6 packs at most grocery stores are going anywhere. This was the last returnable bottler that used the old thick glass bottles that were made to be used over and over again. I always wanted to make my way down there with my wood 24 bottle crate but never found the time. I do know they used to only sell the actual filled bottles to trusted locals, but they will clean and fill any that you bring them. Very sad to see it go.

you can still buy Coca-Cola in bottles here made with real sugar, not the corn syrup kind, but they are bottled in Mexico. The taste is definitely better. happydad

Yeah I almost forgot about that!. The mexican cocacola that uses real sugar tastes a lot better than the high fructose corn syrup cocacola that is made here. For awhile, I was able to get it in 16oz bottles from ”cub foods” and then sams club started stocking cases of 24 of glass 12oz bottles from mexico. Its a little higher in price but worth it. I dont buy it all the time, sometimes in the summer and sometimes in the winter.

Re: Last U.S.-made 6.5-ounce Coke bottle rolls off the line...
I go either way, Coke or Pepsi. They were obviously both around during my youth. I think that a ice cold Coke tastes better on a hot day for some reason. I just bought one of the Pepsi "Throwbacks" last night,,made with real sugar. Much better with real sugar,,,like I remember it. I don't drink alot of soda anymore,,but occasionally.
Probably not the last glass coke bottle,,they will probably do a limited edition run or whatever to boost sales. They both always do.

I'll go for a nice cold draft "Mac and Jack's" brewski over any "sissy" soda pop.
Served on an outside deck with a tav style Philly Cheesesteak sandwich there's nothing finer at my favorite water-side tavern located on Puget Sound here in Washington State.
I'm a regular there.

Matt and other "teeners":
Sorry I totally ignored the younger set in expressing my opinion above.
In time you too will attain the legal age to enjoy tavern fare. It's "right of passage" in life's progression. Sooner than you may think time will pass and the privileges will come.

The Ram Brewery, Lacey WA. A nice platter of deep fried dill pickles, rosetta sauce and a healthy quantity of there "Blonde" home brew. A always-stop after Cabela's.
The Dockside Saloon, Portland OR. For a manly Philly sandwich, trucker portion. Good luck! Better yet, just ask for a take home box before you even start.

"A always-stop after Cabela's." - Keith
Keith: Have you ever tried the deli on the second floor of the Lacey,WA Cabela's?
They serve up a fine Club Sandwich with a large dill pickle on the side. You can sit upstairs to enjoy your sandwich while you gaze at the elegant J-3 Piper Cub suspensed from the ceiling.
Also available are elk, wild boar, bison and other exotic meat sandwiches.
We lunch there when we are short on time

Walked by the Wildlife Cafeteria in Cabela's, but haven't snacked yet. That J-3 Cub is neat,, The whole Alaska bush pilot hunting theme going on there. Picked up a Cabela's corporate suit handout Savage 22-250 for a steal last year.
And yes, you can buy a Coke there.

Every time I've been to the great Northwest, I've plowed into seafood... sandwiches, soups and everything else, while watching all those planes taking off and landing on pontoons. I'm always amazed they can fly at all like that. But if i was forced to order my last meal it would certainly include a Cheese Steak. But not Philly style; Provolone, onions, peppers and mushrooms. And a Coke.
Next time I go out there I'll have to ditch my overly cosmopolitan guide and look up a pub.

Okay, Seattle is where I've been a couple of times. I might get out there again. Hope so.

FYI: The "Goose" is currently on display at The Evergreen Flight Museum in McMinnville, Oregon. The "Goose" is SO large that it is housed in it's own building.
The museum also is home to other outstanding aviation displays including from both World Wars.

When I visited the H-4 Hercules in Long Beach many years
ago, I was facinated by a cutaway model of a Pratt & Whitney R-4360 Wasp Major.
4 row-28 cylinder.
