Re: Looking for 049 ARF RC plane
I can only say with an ARF you are missing one of the best parts of modeling: the satistaftion of creating something yourself.
An ARF is a "crash and trash" proposition but building a model yourself gives you a sense of pride and accomplishment.
But modeling is a "big tent" and there is room for us all.

Re: Looking for 049 ARF RC plane
I completely agree but we are getting requests for such kits, together with requests for complete packages with engines and field gear.
By helping buyers source these kits we get to sell our $70 accessory packages

Re: Looking for 049 ARF RC plane
I've emailed this gentleman a few times about his planes and he has a few kits set up for .049s. I don't think I've seen one as an ARF, but may be worth while talking with him.

Do I get a finders fee, like a plane
Joking aside, I've had my eye on one of those Cessna 150s for awhile, just haven't pulled the trigger yet. If you get some in, I'll defiantly buy one.

Re: Looking for 049 ARF RC plane
Thanks Travis but it looks like they are all "build" kits as well as being electric. That aside, shipping from Thailand is quite expensive.
What we are looking for is a manufacturer that makes either ARF or RTF kits that use a Cox .049 engine.

They have 2 kits for 049s, the Cessna 150 and a Piper Cub.

That will be a hard thing to find. As the ones I've seen are either kits, like I mentioned above or an electric ARF converted. I too have been searching for something for awhile with no luck.
Re: Looking for 049 ARF RC plane
I did not think they existed either but thought I would post in case I am missing something.
Re: Looking for 049 ARF RC plane
I'm still wanting to get one of those Cessna 150s, I'll keep you posted when I do.
Re: Looking for 049 ARF RC plane

Re: Looking for 049 ARF RC plane
The 49" Sig Rascal comes in ARF form. It used to be marketed as a speed 400 or .049-.07 power. A quick look at the site shows it being only electric now. You could possibly supply a custom firewall along with the kit to affix an .049 to it.
Just a thought.....:: The Rascal is a sharp plane and should sell well.

Seems like a big wingspan for a reedie...

I emailed Sig to pick their brain, I'll let you know what I come up with.

Re: Looking for 049 ARF RC plane
I bet you could convert this:

Re: Looking for 049 ARF RC plane
It's really on the heavy side. Our "Pippin" weighs 14oz and we have reports of the thing barely getting off the ground at times.
Re: Looking for 049 ARF RC plane
This, as mentioned above, might be a good candidate for a conversion. I just might have to try one.

Here might be a video of a Cox conversion.

Re: Looking for 049 ARF RC plane
A TD 049 or a hot reedy might fly this one:
http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/359079105/2011_New_RC_PLANE.html
Might need to work with an overseas ARF builder and kit one to size but then you may have to may a shipping container worth...... Even the micro Telemaster from Hobby Lobby is no more..... As far as I know all the 1/2A ARF's from SIG have gone the way of the Dodo. Everything nowadays is all about the electrons instead of hydrocarbons.
