Inspiration from a flightless bird
My in-laws raise chickens for eggs and I did myself at one time. They recently had some hatchling chicks. Unfortunately they had a couple of stray dogs come on their property and kill most of the flock. This little guy was all that was left from the hatchlings after the ordeal.
Since it was getting picked on by the remaining flock (mother hen perished) my wife decided to bring it back to our place. So now I have to build a coop and find a couple friends for it.

Not sure if that is physically possible. Might could teach it to ride with!

Sickly chicks don't fare in an incubator anyway so the lil' guy was REALLY lucky.

Our uncle came by a couple weeks ago and surprised us with 6 baby ducks.
A week later, he called saying there was a mistake and there was a second shipment. Now we have 12 ducks. They are White Peakings.

I think that's "Peking" as in China.

Our family had just moved out into the country onto a 11 acre farm. Dad was so proud to finally get away from the city outskirts and actually out away from it all. He promptly runs down to the feed store and sets up an account and purchases 11 Rhode Island Red laying hens and 1 rooster so we could have fresh eggs. A friend of his comes over a few days later and dad proudly shows off the hens and the renovated chicken coop. His friend who was a bit more "farm savvy" remarks, "well,,I see 11 roosters and 1 hen"
WHOOPS!
Dad's face turns as bright as the red chickens and the adult vulgarity's flowed freely and loudly. Needless to say about 90 days later I was indoctrinated into the club of butchering chickens. If you have ever witnessed this at a very tender age,,it is not something you soon forget. That farm raised chicken tasted pretty good on the plate tho'.

Yah, she was walking around nervous for awhile. The axe head was raised and I swear I heard a sigh of relief.
