Removing warps.

Removing warps.
I rebuilt the wing for my BRM last night. Lo and behild it still had a warp in the trailing edge of the inboard wing.
My workshop is 20 paces from the pool so I walked over and dunked the entire wing in the water and held it there for a while. I took it back into the shop and clamped it down straight. This morning I took a look and voila! No more warp. Probably not new info for you seasoned builders, but just thought I would share should anyone need the info.

You kill me! It's a Baby Baquacil Master truth be told. It was the closest source for water at the time.

Re: Removing warps.
I've steamed wings over a boiling pot of water before and that seemed to work. I've always been scared to immerse glued wood joints, but I know many people that have and did not have any problems.
If the wing is already monokoted, you can block it up and re-heat the monokote. Sometimes that works.

Ok, maybe I should have left the pool out of the equation.

Trainers should be just that; essential simple elements only. Why invest the time and money in something more complex?
It's life-span will likely be short and brutal but the newb will learn from the experience.

Awh,,come on man,,that was a good one. Burned up a couple dozen brain cells thinking that one up. Down to 3 cells left,,better be careful.

Yeah, they were all good ones. Careful Keith, you may sling off the last 3 spinning in circles.

Nah, good entertainment value.cribbs74 wrote:Ok, maybe I should have left the pool out of the equation.

I actually used a spray bottle to mist it with tap water. Lots of RCG guys told me to use Windex or mix some ammonia in it, but even as little as I know, that still sounded like useless bunkum to me. The spray worked great. Clamped in the air conditioning overnight and done. Workfinelastlongtime.
