Ran out of Visco fuse and quick links so we whipped up a 2x6 board and started linking shells and tubes.

Thanks! It only took my about an hour from start to finish. On the other hand, it took me 3 years to find the barrel.

That sucks, did you ever ask her about them or were they one of those things she absolutely didn't want you to have? The pack of Black Cats in the scene are from the mid 1970s. The string of lady fingers are also from the mid 1970s, I bought about 20 strips of them at the antique sale at the fairgrounds a few years back and I opened one up just to play with them, they still worked great! All the other loose red ones are "Little Dynamites" with the waterproof fuse so they can be dropped into water instantly after being lit, I call them "water crackers".
Here are the ones that I keep in a little metal box in the basement, they are all pre-1980s.

I used to make bottle rockets out of those little Jumping Jack fireworks. You just have to plug up the 2 little holes on the side of the little tube, then tape it onto a stick and light. I still like the report "pops" though!

Don't know how many times i got my fingers spanked by the thunder bomb crackers,,and there speed of light fuses. Had one go off on my bare back one year, right between the shoulder blades, left a nice little imprint and burn mark.

Re: Happy Independence Day!
I have some Thunder Bomb 'crackers too, with tiny paper fuses. I stopped using them and got some with larger green fuses. 3.5 seconds now.
Re: Happy Independence Day!
Before the kids lit any stinky snakes or anything we had a little PV Pilot saftey course. I gathered the kids around me and had a little discussion and demonstration of what could happen. I gathered them around me in a tight semi-circle, had them cup there ears and then lit a new style firecracker with the 1ft/4o sec green fuses right at our feet, so they could feel that percussion. I set it under a syrofoam cup and when it went off they took several steps backwards and were wide eyed. then I set about explaining that it would really really hurt if you held it like a sparkler. As the day went on a few started to get more brave, so there firework lighting privledges were revoked and they had to turn in there lit punk stick,,for a bit. The older kids got to use a long reach bbq lighter and the smallish kids used the punk sticks. I wanted there fingers and face well away from anything. I kept a close eye on them all and only had to jump up and get a bit loud a couple times. Nothing real explosive for the small kids, just paper wrapped color sparklers that don't issue a big spray and such, the bigger kids lit the crackers waay away from anyone else. If the smaller kids wanted to light a cracker the earmuffs went on and I would help them light,,then scoop them up and run away. a couple really liked that and asked for more,,till I couldn't take it any more,,lol.

Re: Happy Independence Day!
Gotta watch the kids! I already had to pull a few firecrackers out of my dogs mouth the morning after. He was picking them up off the ground, unlit ones that must have flew from the string. I couldn't imagine what would happen if he actually swallow one. I always scoop all the spent and possibly unspent fireworks up off the ground and toss them into the burner, you always hear firecrackers going off and maybe see a few sparks from a fountain that ended a little too early. One year, a roman candle shot out the side when we were burning all the crap, I guess it wasn't quite over LOL.

Had a dog one year scoop up whistler bottle rocket in his mouth and run off. A muffled pop and he stopped in his tracks, kinda staggered around a bit wobbly, spit out the chunks and shook it off,,but he never did it again. Thinking it thumped his gourd pretty good.

Lol, my buddy Dan reverse loaded a Excaliber display shell in some very heavy duty pipe. Echoed all across his valley
A pic of one of the excaliber shells, a leftover we found the next morning.
Yours truly on the left, Dan on the right giving a lighter salute with the backup board we used most of the night.
And what fourth wouldn't be complete without a guest walking up and handing you a pre 96 Black Widow that they ran once and put down., of course I took it unashamedly . #1 stamped on the cylinder and original black anod that is turning slighly purple. Looks like the plastic prop drive broke and they re-bent the spring to be a no-drag. Very good compression, backplate screws have not been touched.
