I have a Big Bang calcium carbide cannon
I'll try to make some videos, some of the older members on here may know exactly what I'm talking about.

Mine is a gallon paint can with a spark coil attached. I buy the cal carb by the pound online. One hell of a bang.

Re: Fire Cracker Cannons
I have a few. I made them from old airsoft barrels. I put the barrel inside a plastic lighter housing to make a hand cannon. I use a 6mm firecracker with a stopper.
Fun stuff.

Re: Fire Cracker Cannons
I guess my cannon is actually illegal to use here in Minnesota. I was at a firework tent a few years ago when a cop was sitting in there handing out safety pamphlets with notices of what is legal and what is not when he asked me at the checkout "are you doing any firecrackers and bottle rockets this year?" knowing they are illegal, I of course said "no, I have a toy carbide cannon that makes a nice loud firecracker like sound" he said "oh no, don't shoot that off, those are actually illegal to use here as well, but knowing it is not advertised well, I'll let you know now that shooting it off could get you in the same trouble as using illegal fireworks". I just thought "dammit, buzzkill". I have used it anyway since then, never got caught, neither have I ever been caught using illegal fireworks LOL. The neighbors have been caught before, although they use shells that fly up and emit some large bright balls of sparks that kind of making them a large target.
I have taken a gallon bucket that was used for driveway sealant and placed a bowl of water under it, mixed some calcium carbide in the water, let it sit for a minute and then used a modified outdoor lighter to emit a spark under the bucket. That bucket shot up a good 3 feet. I did it 3-4 times until the plastic bucket cracked down the side. I would have used a metal bucket or can but I didn't have that around then.

Lol, i made one of those too...when I was probably 12-13 years old. Nailed the shell to a 2x4 using a 'u' shaped nail (used for barbed wire, etc.) worked pretty good adding some Kleenex wadding and shooting a BB across the street. I could hear the BB hit the garage door of the house across the street...until i added to much powder and the darn thing blew up on me! I had to dig out a piece of brass shrapnel out of my side before my parents got home, hurt like hell and was lucky it didn't hit me in the head...40 years later there's still a mark! I'd be careful, thin brass doesn't make for a good canon!

Re: Fire Cracker Cannons
Spent a couple of summers working in Alaska, at the time we could buy boxes of M-80's and cherry bombs cheap around the 4th. Made a cannon out of a piece of 1 1/2" pipe and a cap with hole torched in it. Loaded with an M-80 and a handful of pea gravel, it would smash beer bottles to smithereens from 40' away.
We made another one using a piece of 1/2" pipe and a bell reducer with the same cap. It would drive a 10d nail into the back of the plywood bay door in the warehouse.
Good times.

I would take an empty Co2 cartrige and stuff if full of paper match heads and a fuse. Put it in a piece of pipe and light. If it was packed lightly it would take off like a rocket. If over packed it would explode.
