Damn Bernie! How many did you have to begin with? They are already all sold out! I don't need one but maybe they would be a good thing to think about reproducing some day.

Sorry Jacob.
I'd love to see a new tankless backplate.
There's not enough of the old helicopter
ones to go around.

I think Bernie spoke on this before. When things become hard to find and then suddenly become available there is a flood of buyers and then it goes stale once again.

Cox 020 Pee Wee backplate assembly for sale / SOLD
A mould to make backplates would cost around $10,000 and we would have make at least 4,000 for us to have a $5 cost (including actual production, spraybar, assembly labour).
We sell about 1,000 of the 049 ones per year (at $9.95) a good portion of such going into complete engines we make. For those we have the actual Cox mould, so there is no mould cost.
049 stuff outsells 020 stuff by a margin of about 10 to 1. We can measure this by glow head, prop, gasket sales, etc.
There is zero chance that we will be able to sell 4,000 of the beasts at $10.95 in our lifetime (30 - 40 year supply) - hence another project that will not happen.

parts
Sad but true there and many engines/parts just sitting in boxes etc. Inernet is most helpful, but old fashion seek and find works. RC clubs all have swap meets at contests. Many RC flyers have gone electric and never know what you will find. I just bought a Sportavia w nice TD .049 for $20.00. It was very dirty but mainly from dust. Cleaned up nice and looks great. Point is you need to get up and attend model action where you live. I know some live in remote areas but RC clubs are everyware. Might even find a good mount for .020's.
