Re: Laird Super Solution build log
Good question......... Think so. Guess I had better check!
Edit: Shoot! Heck no, plans called for 1/8x1/4. Son of a gun, now how am I going to fix that? Guess I can laminate the leading edge or something.
That's what I get for rushing..........
Thanks guys for pointing that out. Now I have to sleep on it.

Not a real problem. You've solved your own dilemma. Laminate a piece large enough to reach the top of the ribs. This will be best down with the wing flat on the building board to keep it straight. You may also need to laminate another piece to the front to give sufficient wood to shape into an appropriate leading edge. Once set, wear it out with a razor plane and/or sanding block.
Re: Laird Super Solution build log
Ok,
I fixed it, just for all you complainers. I mean it's only the leading edge how important can it be?
Just kidding guys thanks for spotting my mistake. Ok gotta go Dirty Harry marathon on amc.
Have more important things to build like ailerons....

I don't understand what y'all mean by "laminate." Please enlighten me.
That's a beautiful job, Ron.

Kinda like plywood Rusty, you laminate one strip on top of the other. In this case to achieve the correct thickness. Although, I just decided to cut out the old stuff and put the correct piece in place.

Nice work on the SS so far Ron.
Are you going nitro for power?
BTW, I was given a five channel micro Rx today so I'll finally get around to finishing the Guillow's #403 Spitfire. I'm still shooting for 14 oz. flight weight.

Hey SuperDave!
Yes I am going with Nitro, is there anything else?
.049 product engine with a throttle ring. There is a pic of it in this thread somewhere.
Glad to hear you received your RX. I am sure it will work well for your Spitfire. 14oz sounds like a doable goal, I bet it weighs even less. I have no idea what this Solution will weigh. I am just building it light as possible.
Thanks for the thumbs up Dave!

Re: Laird Super Solution build log
Ailerons!
Boy I sure am slowing down. With the new job and the closing of my new home looming I don't have much oomph when I get home. Lot's of planning and co-ordinating. To top it off I am headed back to Randoloh AFB next week, close on the home the following week then off to Beale AFB the next week! Busy Busy....
Anyway I cut and boxed the ailerons and seperated the elevator and rudder. Just need to hinge them up now.
