Stepped No4 cylinder?
I've got stepped 051's but never seen a stepped 049 Td.
Anyone?

The engine in my avatar has a stepped #4 cylinder. This engine is also in the gallery.

But Bob that looks like it is milled for throttle ring, no?fit90 wrote:The engine in my avatar has a stepped #4 cylinder. This engine is also in the gallery.
Re: Stepped No4 cylinder?
This one does look to have been ground. I have several other stepped #4's that have not been groound though. I am at least the second owner of these cylinders.

70's, it was an upgrade from the thin walled jobs.

Re: Stepped No4 cylinder?
Ho Kay
It's pre 73 (no mesh) but doh no date on instructions.
It also has the very orangy/coppery gold anodising that I've only seen on the
Mk2 special before. I had hoped I may have scored the 1968 prize.
But at least it's Pukka, I thought I might have pppppp picked up a pup.

Re: Stepped No4 cylinder?
Cox machine a groove in the cylinders for the new throttle for both .020 and .049/.051, some time in 1969, until 1975 +/-
It wasn't considered a upgrade, just a way to install the throttle barrel.
The 'Screen' cylinders came out in '76 and were very short lived, less then a year, followed by the even rarer stainless steel 'slotted' cylinders, before the now common slotted cylinders appeared in '78

Re: Stepped No4 cylinder?
Dan Sitter is selling a number of stainless slotted cylinders that are on product engines.

Good question John, looks like a suppression type thing. Actually it looks like a hose clamp.
Are we talking steps or screens? Seems like things got off track.

Re: Stepped No4 cylinder?
Keep from burning your fingers and starting fires is my guess. First was the mesh, then the stainless slotted and finally was the twin slit cylinders which worked.
