That's what I thought, but what's weird about a baffle? and how the heck do you break it? (Oh, OK, possibly if you put the head on wrong, but then head, piston & Conrod probably scrap too!)

im not sure what the baffle is, but the piston used to have a part on the crown of the piston. that is now broken off so this piston is use less and needs replaced

You're right, that IS weird! How did it happen? as I said above, the only way I have ever known anything similar was if someone fitted the head the wrong way round (the head has a relief cut in it on one side to clear the baffle) and then attempted to start it, the baffle would hit the head, and, as I said above, probably wreck the head and bend the conrod at the very least, does the engine have any of this sort of damage?

well the piston is frozen in the cylinder, the crank shaft turns and it appears to be missing the drive plate

If the shaft turns but the piston doesn't, the conrod's bust!
Pity you paid out on the muffler, I was going to offer you one as a trade for the remains of that Fox!

the conrod is not bust, what i mean is that the shaft has a little play in it
