Wanted Cox/norvel tank mounts

Post  ffkiwi Fri Mar 08, 2024 5:33 pm

Cox red tank mounts and /or Norvel tank mounts. I have a couple of twin projects underway which will require two tank mounts...i'm Ok with either as I have enough Cox and Norvels to go with either option. [but I don't want to mix n match engines on the actual model]

Anyway-if you have any surplus-or see one hanging up in your local model shop (OK long odds I know!) then get in touch.

For what it's worth, a Cox Medallion or Tee Dee will fit in a Norvel Tankmount, if you weren't aware.

              Don

Yes Don I was aware-however the reverse does not apply, as the case size of the Norvels is wider than the Cox...even though the mounting hole spacing is the same.

Chris,
I used a plastic-beam firewall mount to flip-flop Cox vs Norvel. I had to shave the inside edges to clear the Norvel so that the mount was engine-agnostic.

Can you scan your plan? You have me scratching my chin...hmmm.
I saw two smaller Ju-88s on OZ. Both had built up fuselages. The RC one is larger with 1/2A (no lines), while the smaller one is bigger than 1/2A-powered (because of the lines). However, both can be massaged into built-up wings with the flat-fuse (and the bigger one shrunk since you'll be CL).

I love build logs.

Norvel made two style plastic mounts. Both of them leak due to whatever adhesive they used. The back cover and vents leak. I was able to silicone the backplate on the firewall style mount but it failed rapidly. I'm going to try JB weld .

Jim-I can scan the original MAN article and accompanying reduced size plan drawing. I am aware there are other Ju88 CL plan....Model Builder did a very nice one around the same time-but that was the full noise highly detailed variety and intended for a couple of 40s...this current exploration is aimed deliberately at a 'quick and nasty' profile scale build....and as I noted I'm tossing up between the Ju88 , Frog Mosquito and Peacock P-38....though the latter is my least preferred choice.
