Re: Are you prepared in case of an EMERGENCY Or Tornado ECT
So true all that did was rip up the church was kind of a wakeup though houses under 100 yards from ours were damaged.
That was one good thing about London, we didn't worry about this stuff then it happens and you are like wow that was shocking.
It can happen anywhere anytime I suppose.

Some guys at my club's flying field saw a funnel form, but it did not touch down.

After Katrina we existed on MRE’s for a while. You know you’ve lost it when you realize that you have favorites!
Another bit of trivia. When people were desperately seeking shelter at the Superdome, there were long lines and delays due partially to the search for lighters or matches before being admitted. Once inside they were given a MRE which contained matches. Go figure.

Every place has its pros and cons. At least Katrina gave us ample warning. Not sure how many people really trusted the Mt Helens warnings.jsesere wrote:Living in Oregon the only tornado' I have to worry about is my mother in law or is she a hurricane?

Ya, I know,,you would rather eat the wrapper,,but hey, it's protiens of a sort.
After 9/11, the price of bulk surplus MRE's and heaters did a triple take.
I looked into getting mre's their like $20 each! well foundone for $ bin12 http://www.ebay.com/itm/MRE-MILITARY-MEAL-9-BEEF-STEW-/320862011546?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4ab4ddc09a
I ate mres for 3 months straight in field exercises on my first deployment Mmmmmm I love them
Before 9/11, they were $3-4 per, including the heater for it.
The company I worked for at the time had purchased 25 factory new Freighliner commercial trucks from a dealer in New Orleans and they slowly made there way here 4 trucks at a time. the final set of 4 left New Orleans about 2-3 hrs before Katrina hit. They would have been submerged if not for a driver unable to sleep and ready to go to work. It would have been a $320,000 loss to the company and insurance if he held up for a day.
