The Space Bug Jr. - my first Cox engine bought new in 1953.  Plastic case bottom is cracked and it's missing the prop but otherwise complete.  It powered at least three Scientific "hollow log" models, maybe more and never failed.  Love!

So, along comes this SB Jr. on ebay, complete except for the instructions but with an extra head.  I bid on it which held for several days but someone bid right up to my limit.  So I overbid myself and went to bed.  I found out this morning that it sold for $132.50 well over my top bid.  Sad.  But happy to see it going to a good home.

As a consolation I did win this one for $34.00 which shows just how much the inclusion of an original container can add to it's worth.

Got a soft spot for the things............

I have one of those beauties as well.
Made a nice stand for it to display on my desk.

Maybe turn the back part of the tank so the needle valve is on the side like it originally would be?
I reassembled / rebuilt it the way that I received it from a friend.

Those are really neat engines and very special you have a that long of a history with one…
I think Cox was wise to offer the different color tanks…. The bling of the day to go with what one was building! ….SBJ is a very iconic piece of Cox history…. Small Cox Logo

Mike, the way the backplate fuel pickup is set up, with the needle straight up is for free flight, on the side for U control.
Either way can be correct.

Nice display of your engine.  I like the standoffs.

The stand offs are from the local Ace hardware store in the nut and bolts isle.

The engine I received from my Aussie friend Just before the pandemic.
I traded some Enya 049-II engines (with u/control venturis and throttle control) for the Cox engines.

I can get parts for the Cox engines cheaper than Allan (my Aussie friend) and he has no problems getting Enya parts down under.

I got from Allan a Cox RR1, Thermal Hopper, Space Bug, and a Space Bug Jr.
Of course, I ordered some parts from Burnie and Matt to rebuild them.
