I was cleaning some parts for a couple of Queen Bees, when i saw one of the cylinders had boostflutes.
I have never seen this before on a QB???

The 074 had issues.

What Cox did with warranty returns was stick a .09 cylinder/piston set on them. Check to see if that is the case.

The lower conrod bore is different though on the .09, or they make a special conrod for them?

The 2175 (.09TD) cylinders i have (NIB) have an extra groove at the base of the cylinder. This does'nt.
As Chris also noted, the lower end is bigger on the TD than on the QB.

The difference on the 09 is the bore and one would have to take calipers and measure the OD of the piston.

I have just checked the bore, and both are .4635", so they are both QB's.
They cyl. head on the one with boostflutes is a little differant too. The center hole is smaller (allmost no space to get a tool in to remove the glowplug), but as i bourght it used i have no idea if it has been changed.

I never tear a new engine down to check it out. Gaskets and seals are only new once. Extra futes looks good.

I don't do that either, unless it is a chinese gas engine, where you have to do it to get all the dirt out and to check it for correct assembling. I have had a coulpe of SPE/Turnergy/no-names and i reccomend others to do the same on those.

These QB's was some i had laying around, i was cleaning them as they looked like they had been drowned in castor and then burried in earth.

It would sure be nice if i could find out how many they made of these?

Did you buy this engine in 2009 from engine049 on ebay or around 2009 form bernie or matt or reg? If so it was one of the engines I sold someone from the R*D dept therefore its a 1 of a kind test eng

No, i bourght it (well) used last year.
It could still be one of those RD engines, did you check them if they had the boostflutes? Still i wonder if there is more out there, it seems like an easy fix for Cox to boost the performance on these engines

I only have 1 cyl left and its normal, I wish I would have looked way back yonderwhen....
