Thimble-Drome .049
Hello I'm new to the forum.
30 something here with lots of experience with the standard cox .049 as a kid, but not lately.
An old friend of mine handed me a Thimble Drome .049 that he figures he last ran in the late 1960's. I got it torn down and all looks and feels good but it needs new gaskets.
Any insight on parts for this thing or any history? I've never seen this particular motor but it looks cool and I think it will run again...

Ex model engines or Cox International has all the parts needed to get that .049 going. Do a search on the net.

Re: Thimble-Drome .049
Thanks Tom and Cribbs. Thre are a multitude of rebuild kits available depending on how many parts you would like to change. See here your options from $1.95 to $6.95:
http://coxengines.ca/cox-.049-babe-bee-tune-up-kit.html
http://coxengines.ca/cox-.049-babe-bee-gasket-kit.html
http://coxengines.ca/cox-.049-babe-bee-overhaul-kit.html
http://coxengines.ca/cox-.049-babe-bee-fuel-tank-kit.html
Assuming your engine has an integrated tank. If not, there are also kits available for non-tanked engines.
Matt from exmodelengines.com should have the parts for sale as well and I believe that Tom (engine049 on eBay) has at least some of the components.

Remember those? Made a killing when I listed them in auctious ending minutes/hours after the Oprah show ended and Oprah endorsed "The Secret".
Bought for $20 and sold for $60 all day long - nothing like a little shortage of product to drive prices up.
... um... just like some Cox parts
