Thought only cox had a .010
Was browsing ebay found this anyone know any other manufacturers made a 010? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Unknown-Irvine-micro-diesel-motor-engine-for-RC-/160749009642?pt=Radio_Control_Parts_Accessories&hash=item256d633aea

Re: Thought only cox had a .010
How wrong you were lol.
The engine in the eBay Listing is an AE .1cc that is 0.006ci so it I smaller than the cox .010!
I have one and in my experiences it is a terrible engine!
I have five engines smaller than a .010 including my smallest, the one in my avatar next to the .010 it is a blitz 0.05cc (0.003)
They are all diesels there are very few tiny glow engines.

Re: Thought only cox had a .010
I think the first smaller than .010 ci engine I remember was the Bambi .009 diesel. I never had one but I understand many were "iffy" runners. I think the recommended fuel mixture for it was 60% ether, 20% castor, 20% kerosene...but that may be incorrect, just from early fifties (year, not age) memory.

Re: Thought only cox had a .010
The Bambi came before the .010 most were good for their size.
Tiny diesels can be a bit hit and miss.

Re: Thought only cox had a .010
Harry Fjellstrom had an engine of 0.042cc before either of these engines
Came out.
I know a fair amount abouts tinier diesels so feel free to ask I will try to answer.

Hi George, Recommended fuel mix for my Schlosser 0.25 is:gcb wrote:I think the first smaller than .010 ci engine I remember was the Bambi .009 diesel. 25% Castor
32% kerosine
42% ether
Test run at factory on a 6 x4 at about 7,000- 8,000 rpm
They are incredibly quiet on this prop.

Not factory though Benno is not a factory worker!
Most of the .25cc guys see about 10,000 rpm
on a 6x3 so your sounds about right after more running I am sure it will get even better.

Re: Thought only cox had a .010
The first engine I ever owned was a Frog 50 diesel, that was HUGE compared to these at .49 cc (Don't know what that is in ci) and I could never, ever, get it to start! So I wouldn't even ATTEMPT to start diesels of the size you're talking about, even now, MANY years later, and with vastly more experience with engines!

Re: Thought only cox had a .010
I do not have any super-small engines. For glow it is the Tee Dee .010, and for diesels it is the Letmo replica .45cc. That little Letmo is an excellent runner.
Don't have an individual pic but it is the upper left in this pic:

Some very nice diesels there, glad to see PAW well represented. Which Mills replica is that?

Yes, the Letmo replica is from Carlson's.
The Mills replica, also from Carlson is a .75cc (.045ci). I removed the tank on that one so I could use it for CL.

What is the quality like on those Mills replicas? I keep reading contradictory reports, does it run ok?

Re: Thought only Cox had a 0.010
Depends which Mills replica of course, I have had an Indian (Aurora) 1.3
which could only be described as very poor, not quite rubbish.
Managed to get the .75 and 1.3 Boddo Mills, construction managed and
distributed by the late and great Dave Boddington. Made by CS in China.
These are both excellent, easy starting if you don't flood them. Just
like my original which flew away a long, long time ago.
Get one or both if you can. Never owned an Irvine replica but I understand
they are good.

Carlson's Mills replicas are made in India, so I have reservations about them I'm afraid.

Mill's
Years ago I had India made Mill's .075cc and 1.5cc. The 1.5 cc was very decent and ran very good. The smaller one was decent and also ran very good. I was delited to say the least and regret selling them. All were purchaded from Carson's. Also bought Russian made Elfin Steel liner 1.5cc and its a great runner. I also had the Irvine Mill's and bought new for $25.00 on one of the forums. Can you say good deal!! If you like to fly 1/2A the Paw .06 BR is wonderful. They also make an .049/.034 size engine that are good.

I have a PAW 29 delux kit, with both the carb and C/L needle setup as well as my tiny Valentine.
That PAW is a thick monster, definitely heavy duty.
Both will see fuel soon I hope.
