Rename it to Gepetto's Gattino (kitten)?Michpatriot wrote:If Gepetto had been into control line..instead of string puppets
Seeing @aspeed's yarn about adding a .15 engine, the nose is not long enough.
And ... speaking of yarns and kittens, there is one Italian surnamed prolific half-A designer, Paul Del Gatto (of the cat), and one of his odd designs noteworthy:
https://outerzone.co.uk/plan_details.asp?ID=8313 Del Gatto - Wun Wing Gon half-A C/L:
Outerzone photo.
Back in the early 2000's, his daughter contacted Joe Wagner and Joe put out to his small engines and models E-mail newsletter blog, requesting something to remember her late father by. I had 2 plans I bought from SIG with Paul's name in the title block as the designer, one the Berkeley original and another same plan but relabeled as SIG. This was the half-A craftsman series 35 inch span Interstate Cadet cabin. I mailed her my Berkeley original print as a gift, to which she was grateful.

Re: Couple Kittens followed me home..
Hi Mich,
The Kitten I flew had a the new GoldenBee on it.
Dope/silkspan, era. Nicely built. To the plans.
John my friend and I were the 'experts' ,
Drew pilot on the coin toss,
John launched ,
I somehow did not crash it.
Too this day,
I can say to my friend John, "I'll fuel it up, you try it!" He said No!
There is no way the CG was even close. Nevermind sloppy over control.
Some how,
I read the model mags...
And,
I like this CEF forum,
Dave

Re: Couple Kittens followed me home..
Its about 1\2" behind the leading edge now Dave..added over an inch to the motor mount, its got room to wind some solder on it now! Its going to be a blast how ever it turns out. Ill have the wife recording the video for sure.

Re: Couple Kittens followed me home..
Hi Mich,
It is all about having fun,
You are most of 1/2a the way there...
We flew Ringmasters, FlightStreaks, and thought those 'wings' were impossible.
Little did we know.
I would ask Ken, if 2ft of string, and 10ft of 1in crepe streamer will help stabilize it.
I like your nose modification, to get the CG right.
I like the part,
When you try to relax,
Before the test flight,
Then,
The Cox barks up, needles in nice....
Time to go,
Priceless !
Take care,
Have fun,
Dave

Did you go with the bass wood for the elevator ? I wouldn't think just the tube would have changed the CG that much.

Yes I did..I should have weighed the original, but nearest I could tell it was basswood..but in hindsight nobody would have done that back when this was built. Temporary insanity thinking the C\G would be fine, but I never dreamed it was called for at the rear of the leading edge .don't know what I was thinking. Really was just wanting rid of the wrinkly warped elevator that was quite suspect and when at the precious woods section chose bass..duh um .lol

Hi Mich,
That will fly great.
You might find you can loose some nose weight and shift the CG back.
The Combat Kitten is the only one I see with a fwd CG...
The larger Combat Cat (same plane) CG is ~20%
Take care,
Have fun,
Dave
