GallopingGhostler wrote:Now that looks like real serious business, @Michpatriot. (Nice clean, professionally laid out work also. ) I've never messed with pressure systems, nor combat. Looks like that dual bypass ported postage stamp engine with high compression Tee Dee head will really move out.
I have to echo George's comments. Everything so nicely done and thought out. The pressure baloon especially. But, I have never done a baloon pressure system and never will unless I could contain it somewhere in the wing or fuselage.
I just can't get past the induced drag and something so unnatural sticking out there like a sore thumb. I admit, I'm in a minority on this issue so excuse me while I stick out there like a sore thumb.

I know I dislike the looks of the external bladder, but in these 1\2a size wings not much room for a tube in the wing..the bladder isn't supposed to be constricted i.e. squeezed,.so if you try to reconcile that notion with the thin wing chord the run time of a small grape size bubble bladder in the wing looks
less appealing to me..ah well function before form on these first couple bladder arrangements.

I love it. Taking a beat up old rock of a plane and making a diamond out of it.

Well ur taking alittle further I see , i just looked at my control horn and it has the ply. one from the kit on it with one hole and have no idea where the hook up is located in the frame (bellcrank) When you get everything working the way you want would you please give me an insight on how much deflection you have at the elevator .

Funny how things turned into ring around the rosie, but the scratchy feel of the controls and too much throw was going to be a recipe for certain disaster. Now that the geometry and angles are right between the horn and bell crank, it allows the elevator to operate smooth and limp without any bind..off to the hobby robber for leadout cable...

Re: Couple Kittens followed me home..
Well what's the peanut gallery think about a badder tube in front of the main spar going through the 1st in 2nd outboard rib.. This bladder tube that I have is definitely gonna be constricted inside of a 3/4 inch tube.. Will this stuff work squished out like a hot dog? I understand that people who usebladders claim that it's a no no.. But I'm just wondering if I'm just gonna see a small rich lean condition similar to using Is a classic well tuned metal tank.. Or is it more serious like it goes way lean in flight? Hope some of the experts will perk up and give me some responses on what to do.. Thanks

Re: Couple Kittens followed me home..
Don't pinch the bladder. It gives you a false needle setting. Little red caps used to cap calking tubes make good bladders for 1/2a stuff. You can make a plastic bubble by heat shrinking a pop or water bottle over a golf ball, make two halves and join the two halves together to make a ball. We free flight guys sometimes just let the red cap just hang off the plane, but we only carry a small amount of fuel. Just some hints from my combat days. I would also rotate the cylinder head towards the outside of the circle and the needle valve towards the inside of the circle. It will save your needle valve and cylinder and fingers when fiddling the needle.
The red caps are a low pressure set up compared to a tube bladder. Leader line/cable can sometimes be found where you by fishing gear.

Well you have changed the game now , mine is going to need some work before i try fly again I know the deflection of the elv. is way too much compared to yours , Thanks for taking the time to post for me .

Re: Couple Kittens followed me home..
Hi Mich,
That Combat Kitten control system is very Nice ! Probable, that we had that that much 'play' in the control, that was needed...
Going from up/down was like putting the brakes on it, and impossible to fly straight.
Tried moving CG fwd, and did not help. It flew straight, if you lost line tension...
Nice Project,
Thanks for sharing it with us,
Are you sure a Cox reedy, really needs needing, a pressure tank ?
I think you should try an easy bladder tank, then see the gains on pressure...
My Cox .049s, just run a nice tank. I like that.
I agree with everyone else here,
Take care,
Have Fun,
Dave,

Hi Mich,
I would say you are good to go...
Double CA wipe any covering seams.
Make sure,
Up is up, when you pick up the handle...
Got that t-shirt,
Dave
