Cox Engine of The Month
Enya crankshaft thread sizes (and other engines)

Enya crankshaft thread sizes (and other engines)
I was need it some taps and dies to clean up some bad threads on some of the Enya engines I'm rebuilding.
I found on the web a chart that has thread sizes for the different engine's crank shafts.
So, I ordered the taps and dies for the Enya .049, the .06/.08/.10 and .09 that were on that list.
Well, the M4x0.8 for the .049 (that was originally on the list) was not exactly correct. as it was ok for about 1/2-way then stopped.
It did the same on the M5x0.8 (that too was wrong on the original list) I ordered for the .06/.08/.09 and .10.
I got my thread gaging out and measured the thread pitch and what was on the chart (M4x0.8 for the .049 and M5x0. was not correct. It was close, but wrong.
The pitch on the .049 crankshaft is M4x0.75 and on the .06/.08/.09 and .10, the pitch is M5x0.9.
One more error on that list is the Enya .19.
The older .19-II thru VI thread pitch is M6x1.0
I have corrected this on the chart below. If I come across another mistake on the thread chart, I'll correct that as well.

4x0.8mm? That is an odd one, where did you even find taps and dies? 0.75mm pitch is the old JIS standard, before it changed to match the M4x0.7 ISO standard
Something is not right with the OS sizes listed. 10LA and .15LA are M5. 15FP is 7/32"-32.

I got the M4x0.8 tap and dies from Granger along with getting the M5x0.8 there as well.
As for the OS sizes, I don't have that many OS engines.
I'm not the one who made up this list.
I did a web search for Enya crankshaft sizes and ran across this listing in a Windows spread sheet format.
I changed it to a JPG format.
Sorry I didn't mark that page where I got the crankshaft thread sizes one of my favorites.

Depends on the year of manufacture. My Enya 35 had a 7mm thread on the crankshaft.

You are correct.
Later years, Enya changed the thread sizes.
It is still best to actually measure and gage your crankshaft threads to get the correct size.
