Kim cowers and turns away...Paypal cringes in fear....
But seriously...my Ebay Ranger has a slightly warped stabilizer...would you want it if I build up a duplcate to replace it?

You could probably pull that back in with a piece or two of carbon fiber Kim, the flat wide stuff.
I plan on adding lengths of Carbon fiber here and there.

A good one for you to Superdave, this guy is in Snoqualmie and standard ship is usually next day or day 3.

Re: Goldberg "Ranger 42"...Like I NEED another project !
I may make a run the St.Louis this weekend. Is there any one-step finishing paint for this foam. I remember Scheafers Hobbies had some Formulac U left. Will that work straight-on ? I want tot try to duplicate the box cover scheme.

Re: Goldberg "Ranger 42"...Like I NEED another project !
I skimmed this off of another site Kim.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I was going to suggest Testor's...it however is NOT glow-fuel proof, so use it only for ELECTRIC R/C aircraft, not glow. TopFlite LustreKote I believe is foam-safe, and old favorite Pactra Formula-U was also but had a DISMALLY long drying time. Formula-U CLEAR was the only common paint I knew of that was both fuel-proof and foam safe. Do not know if old Hobby Poxy and K&B super poxy were foam safe or not. Suspect not as they used MEK solvents.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
They also went on to say that the Kilz mold and mildew prep primer works good on foam as a base primer. The water based Kilz.
They also mentioned Testors all purpose spray enamel was safe, but not fuel proof. so you would probably have to topcoat with Minwax Polycrylic.
With the acrylic waster based paints, they would have to be topcoated with Minwax Polycrylic(water based)
I would test all above on scrap in layers, ect, before committing anything. #1-to make sure nothing melts and, #2-to see how it is going to look, #3-after all is dried, dribble some right out of the jug 25% on it let it set overnight and see if it eats the foam.

Re: Goldberg "Ranger 42"...Like I NEED another project !
Good deal ! Thanks ! I've got a bunch of the LustreKote laying around. I may try some on the underside of the stabilizer as I'm pretty sure I'm gonna build that part up.
I'm almost ready to shoot some color dope at the Baby Wulf, and think the ranger will get the table next...unless something else shiny passes by that I got to chase !
Once again...Thanks !

"Kinda sad that I know that,,"
Hey...you like what you like ! I tried some LustreKote on the underside of the Ranger's stab...at least with THIS foam, it is NOT compatible!
Yeah...know well about Formula U clear's eternal set up time! Once it DOES cure though, it's some of the best stuff for firewalls and the area behind!

Hey! The Thread Bash is fine !! Love the Piets, but GOT to finish this Kraut that's parked in the middle of my table !!! Then, the Ranger, The Q-Tee, The Sinbot, recover Wayne's Scout, try again to convert some glowheads for the Space Bug, Thing 1, the Navigator, and now the Mud Duck is starting to bother me again..."Negative on the fly-by Ghost Rider...the pattern is full" !
When I make it to the Ranger, I'll be needing some help with painting the sucker. Lustrekote is NOT friendly to it's foam, and Scheafers sold their last can of Formula "U".

Re: Goldberg "Ranger 42"...Like I NEED another project !
A little ebay labeling whoopsie,,Maybe. Maybe the seller intended to put the 42 there for the search engine.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=370604632052&ssPageName=ADME:B:SS:US:1123
It popped up on my email notify for a Ranger 42, just because the "Ranger" and "42" was there and placed together I think.

Another CG Ranger 42 popped up on the bay,,for anyone looking for a lightweight flyer for your piles of motors. Comes with wheels. I would probably save those and use lightweight foamies that are available.
