The new/old Wen Mac SBD Slow but Deadly Dauntless
Repaired everything, music wire machine guns, BBQ skewer gunsight with common pin sight post, navagation lights, proper decals. Still have to run Georges antenna from post to tail and replace the prop with a W/M red single blade.
Real thing with insignia's.
As received. Swapped airplanes. Put better example in the box.

Wow, Bob, quite a transformation. What looked like a well battered and abused aircraft with questionable value has been transformed into a plane that looks fresh off the assembly line. Paint is a very good match for the plastic color, and is done well enough one could not tell it was painted.
That is one good looking model aircraft to behold, definitely looks museum quality.

OOH, OWCH..no pictures to show, but I Sliced open my left hand pointer finger while trying to separate two pieces of a TV Remote, Dropped the exacto, Just like the one pictured, landed sharp point down on the top of my foot!! A TWOFER! I get nerves around sharp objects and band saws. If it hadn't been for that little voice in my head "remember the Cub Scout rule to always cut away from your body" I would have planted that sharp edge just under my ribcage! Itsa good thing I know a little First Aid and how to make bandages!

Ouch! is right Rene, those things are sharp. Exacto heading towards your foot, gaining speed with every inch fallen..............Double ouch!
Yeah, Scouts, never whittle towards you! Baloney. I would have never gotten that crusted rubber band off. It's remarkable, I have more scars from model airplane propellers than anything else yet I have been a wood worker/outdoorsman all my life.
Band saws, got one in my shed. I am more careful using it than anything else. You could lose a finger, or part of one in an instant. I cut out those three rotten wood tether planes partly using it. Just used it to cut out those Prop Rod substitute engine mounts, talk about close cutting, they measure about an inch and a quarter overall.

Re: The new/old Wen Mac SBD Slow but Deadly Dauntless
I've cleaned and bandaged a bad deep cut rather than go to a doctor for stitches. Kept bandaid in place a couple days to a week, to hold the skin flaps together, replacing as needed. After about 4 days, the injury had already started knitting itself together. After about a week, no longer needed the bandaid. Skin would start to peel a little. After a couple weeks to a month, well on the way to healing. Wound up with a fine line where the cut used to be. Worked like a charm.
However, if it became infected or so bad that I could not fix, then seeing a doctor is in order. But so far never had to do with Exacto knife cuts.
And yes, knives do slip, some types of carving and cutting seems hard to do the so called "safe" way and get the job done correctly.
Please hold still while I rip this board.

Nah, It's funny. I draw the line at some humor, but carpentry humor..............I could tell some tales.
BTW, I do love that Dauntless. Pictures don't do it justice. What a difference from what it was, all out of an aerosol paint can.
The canopy especially, soaked it in Simple Green to remove most of the applied plastic cement overdo, and scraped the rest with the exacto then sanded and polished. Crystal clear. Made posts out of plastic tooth picks and set them in as original in the rear quarters. Little to no cement at all holds it securely on.
Some kid, some day is going to have a lot of fun with it. I have three great grandsons coming of age.
Looking for red bars rudder decal/art.
