That remains to be seen. I think maybe I shouldn't have recommended it before I field test it. It does break down when you use it as a pressure bladder. It fits perfectly, but if it turns to goo, it's worthless.Mike1484 wrote:Rusty,
How long do you think that surgical tubing O-ring will last? That type of tubing seems to break down rather fast once it comes in contact with glow fuel.Maybe it will hold up better as a gasket but I like Bernies venturi gaskets or silicon tubing gaskets cut from fuel tubing.Let us know how it works.

I'll put one in an experiment engine and give it a good workout. If it works all Summer and isn't a sticky mess when I tear it down, I'll give it the "Rusty" seal of approval.

Yeah, Cz, I finally got up to speed, so to speak. Got a TD .049 and a beautiful .051, and a Medallion .049 that I use a pressure-less balloon bladder with. I'm a slow learner, but I catch up eventually.Cz10 wrote:Wow. A TD and bladder tanks. You have been busy while I was gone!

Cool. Nice pics, btw, except for the guy holding the rod - almost as ugly as the fish - OH.... THAT'S YOU...sorry.
Is the somewhere you detailed your implementation of the tanks?
Also... When did this become a beam mount???

Must be new - which would be why it is out of stock? As in not available... yet

Last question first. Yes, that must be new because I looked at all the pictures I could find while I was making the pieces for my Satan. My plans said nothing about beam but they were decades old. Even if I got an adapter, there's no graceful way to mount the fuel supply on it. The CG is too far forward unless you want a little wedge tank, but that's not much of an improvement over a hot Black Widow.
There is a video of my making the pressure-less bladder. It's a little silly because I hadn't gotten the hang of cranking that Medallion when I made the vid, but it shows everything you need. My YouTube channel link is under my avatar. One of our members tried it the other day and said it ran well pointed in every direction. No fine thread NVA necessary either. It doesn't work as well with the TD as the Medallion.
In the pictures of the TT pressure bladder at the top of this thread, I have a one way fill valve on the tail of the bladder. I trained it to expand at the front. I have tee off of it to vent any accidental air I get in it. Those are Luer Loc threaded syringe fittings. You can just screw a syringe on and it's air tight while filling. I got the screw-on caps from my dialysis clinic, but I can give you all you want if you can't find them.
I can answer any questions if you're curious. There is a video of it in action on my channel. I think it's called weekend flying. It has flights of a couple of planes including the Stuntman with the TT bladder. I didn't have the TD running perfectly, but it was still doing the job quite well. In the last flight on that video, I get some pretty good aerobatics with the Stuntman before my outside figure 9.

Re: The flying season of 2012 is about to commence!
And I have a kit purchased in the last year, maybe 6 months, from them that is bulkhead. I looked at converting it to beam mount, but decided it was easier to use a glass filed adapter mount that i have on hand and mount a pressure bladder in the wing. That's what I did 40 years ago and it worked. I think I'll drop them (Brodak) an email and ask to see what they did and see if they'll sell me the different parts needed. Worse case I'll just buy another kit from them.

Re: The flying season of 2012 is about to commence!
I unfortunately added a spar in the wing right on the CG and in the way of a bladder. When it gets ugly I'll probably tear it out, but it's still pretty at this time.
Don't forget the mounts that are made like a backplate with a flange drilled with mounting holes. It just screws on in place of the original backplate. Looks like a neat solution. And the torque rotation should keep it tight.
