I know suppliers but they sell nitro by the 5l and that cost £50.
they also sell Methanol for £37 per 25l
but those are the minimum orders for each

John Goddard wrote:Where do you get your Nitro from Will?

I used to buy direct from Germany and then China , i was making fuels and selling them to shops and at shows in the UK so i kept some nitro for myself to use when i was running out and i knew i was geting no more in

i decided to concentrate on the adhesives for a few years , a few years ago.... , so i havent been buying any for some time but i have almost run out now so i may be getting some more soon-ish as i need some and i dont like buying from any shops ( unless they stock my glue! )

Most modelshops should have some, (i may/should have some a few months time)

Methanol , you should be able to get it about £5 a gallon from a model shop , nitro in much smaller sizes but costs more, ive seen it in shops for about £12.75 for a litre

Update
Thanks to The Rustmeister the O/T is running like a Champ.
Yesterday armed with tube covered N/V and 3 head gaskets
The tshurdee held 18.7 and needled perfectly no messing.
It just sounded a whole lot happier.
First flight was with 5x3 and lasted 12 mins with 50 second
Glide.
The second with 6x3 and 2oz tank brimmed lasted 15.5 mins
Power on with 2.10 glide.
No 2 ways the 5x3 wins on overall performance with it just
Feeling more spritely but it makes a racket.

Now to start head gasketing the 010....
lol!

Just in case I mistakenly put this on last week elsewhere guys I apologise.....

But here is my half baked attempt a two engines last weekend when
it actually stopped raining for a few hours,-

You can hear camraman Glen laughing as the CB quit. By this time my
ear'oles weren't working so I didn't realise I was single engined and
rapidly losing lift...
Bit of damage to the fuz and when I checked the CB annoyingly the
glow head was loose Embarassed
So...
I've decided to revisit drawing board (again I hear you cry) and junk
the second engine, reason being the pod wasn't kind to the wing either
and even when the cb was running the extra wing loading kinda
overturned the reason for it.
This week we are going on a diet, with the 100g 700mah batt being junked in
favour of a 15g 150mah, larger 3d type wheels to hopefully overcome rolling
resistance and most inportantly a tailwheel to replace to draggy skid.
I reckon with the KB'STD spinning at 22k we must be close to 70 Watts
and that's almost 43 watts per pound I think if this doesn't work our
'last chance saloon' for Cox will be a TeeDee which should take us to about
48 Watts per Pound
Watch this space.

New Big 3D type wheels (7grams lighter than old ones) + tail wheel = less rolling resistance.
Diet
All up weight incl 2oz of fuel 720 grams

Which with the KB spinning around 22k means it flys at quite a pace.
Still no ROG uncut grass but it will do soon. Not a very good film cos idiot took camera from
pocket sometime after launch but... well have you ever flown and operated a camera
at the same time?

It looks great now, but I've lost track of your power plant iterations. Is it a pure Killer Bee now, or still a mix?

It's KB bottom end Rusty. But with a Rusty'alike cut down piston, TD cylinder/head.

Too much is never enough Ron, I think we're almost there.
It'll rise off ground from Tarmac without a doubt but obviously
The object of the exercise was to take off from our patch
But I've still got a couple rev skweeeezin ideas left.....

I recckon the needle on the Wattzperpoundometer is fairly bending at 47ish

Oh, so you actually tried my drill press-and-file skirt reduction? I think You're the first to admit it. Did it make any discernible difference, or did you change to many things at once to tell?

Post  John Goddard Thu May 10, 2012 5:38 am

You better believe it Rusty but don't tell anyone else cos they'll all be winning next years tach race.... Very Happy

Bernies latest batch of TD cylinder piston sets had so small a spi gap I had to hold it up in front of the TV to
see any gap at all.
So I thought 'in for a penny in for a pound' and took a millimetre off It added almost 1500 rpm as the Bernie
version wasn't that great (perhaps I got a dud) which is why I took the bit between me teeth.
I know it's not a direct comparision and it does have the largest spi I've ever seen now but I'll certainly
be doing it more often.
Downsides? It now drinks fuel like it's going out of fashion.
Very Happy
