thank you my dear friend. Yes!... the postoperative period is something terribly painful, I had never experienced so much pain... but as the days went by, puff, it eased.
It's been 4 months now and there is still some inflammation, but now everything is totally manageable.
The first month, the second and much of the third, I didn't want to go to the bathroom!! hahaha, it was terribly painful... hahaha... anyway, thank God, the worst part is already behind us!

Re: Then getting back on the bike...!
Hi MauricimoB, (and other bike riders)
Thanks for sharing your stories...
Much appreciated.
All I can add, Is my story,
Rode bikes for 50+yrs. Love it. Still do...
Hit a big roadblock when my hands siezed up, and got way too painfull to ride.
(think of very rusty ViceGrip worn out pliers..)
So,
I got an upright e-bike. Hands don't hurt anymore.
But my legs? They are in a way different geometry now.
(no more standing on the pedals, humping the front wheels over bumps, uphill in first gear... )
I am getting used to it.
New leg muscles at 65 will take time.
The nice thing?
I still ride.
And, I still ride,
Take care,
Have fun,
My friends,
Dave

Re: Then getting back on the bike...!
Well, the progress is notorious and so on Sunday 03/19/2023 I went to my town where I was born.
It is located about 35 km from my city.
There are dirt roads to reach it, but the drought (it doesn't rain) for about 7 to 8 months and therefore the dirt roads are pure dust, which makes it really impossible to ride a bicycle, the bicycle advances using the appropriate gears , but the flying volvo becomes highly uncomfortable to breathe, so I decided to go by road. that is to say a national route. There is more risk due to the traffic of cars and trucks, but, as it was done in 1996, a good mirror to check and pay attention to the sounds of the tires turning of the vehicles, one can calmly spot them from more than 100 meters away (I'm talking about those who come from behind), so I get off the road, go for a stretch along the shoulder and then return to the road.
It has been a beautiful trip on Sunday morning, I toured the town.
Here I leave some votes from the tour of the route.
There is a service station in the middle of the route totally abandoned, so I took some photos of it.
This service station reminds me of some US horror or mystery movies, where things happened to visitors, haha...it would be a good setting for Steven Spielberg Director perhaps!
The abandoned service station transmits many things, it's a strange feeling, being there and thinking that all that once had life.
here, in the middle of nowhere, the abandoned service station
as if they had withdrawn unexpectedly and there it was all...
A rusty roof and a rusty truck tank, everything has remained there over time...time to go!
but my eyes upon retiring have also discovered a beautiful runway for model airplanes!!, it would be good to do some flights here!!...it would be good to do it and give a touch of life with some Cox!!
Done, I go back home, but before a record that I was there and nothing happened to me! ha ha

Re: Then getting back on the bike...!
Mauricio, buenos días esta hermosa mañana. Maurico, good day this beautiful morning. (Well, buenos días is used for "good morning", but it means good days, sin embargo, no importa. )
Esas fotos son muy bueno, a similares de oeste Texas y este de Nuevo México, especialmente las fotos de las gasolineras que están abandonado. Tenemos las mismas en nuestra tierra.

Beautiful photos and a little peek at the culture in your homeland Mauricio ….A good distance traveled as well, Congratulations!!
Really nice to have a “destination “ to ride to…. Mine is all off road but I enjoy the Creation as I go…. Hoping for some rain this spring so the cactus will bloom well…. They are quite brilliant when they do…. Thanks for sharing tu viaje

Re: Then getting back on the bike...!
Hi MauricimoB,
Thanks for the rides you share.
Snow is melting and rain will wash the winter salt away here.
Spring is almost springing here.
Is this your Fall ?
Do you ever get snow?
That old, flat lands, have been paved over decades ago here.
Got Lake Ontario to fly from.
Paved industrial places are fun to fly from, if the security guards like beer !
Any calm wind,
Should have a Cox engine warming up...
Take care,
Have fun,
Dave

Re: Then getting back on the bike...!
Thanks guys for the comments.
It is very nice to be able to share here with you.
Dave, I answer your questions:
We are entering autumn here, a beautiful season, the weather generally in that season of the year is very good.
Snow, sometimes unexpectedly as something very rare in the area where I live, occurred in 1971 and in 2007... but in other areas of my country like Bariloche, snow does fall there.
Flying in abandoned places is nice, I think that in the station that I visit, there is no control or security personnel, there are only the facilities, if I go flying, of course, I will make sure that I am doing things correctly so as not to be surprised!
Some photos from my club in 2007, this is not normal, the snow here in my sona is not normal, but it happened!

Re: Then getting back on the bike...!
And now what?
Well, after that internal surgery I had two years ago, I still have some discomfort, although it's not that uncomfortable, sometimes it's there and sometimes it goes away.
There are no fluids, no secretions, some pain sometimes... so I went to check up with that surgeon.
We did a corrective study and you know what?... there's a fistula... it bothers me there... and then?..
... well my surgeon tells me, this can be managed with antibiotics when discomfort appears, and a final solution can be given with surgery... that was my decision... doctor, let's resolve this once and for all...
OK!... well, God willing, in December I will have another operation, this time for a fistula, I hope the postoperative period is not as painful as my internal hemorrhoids were... I start to grit my teeth!

Re: Then getting back on the bike...!
Hi Mauricio, Sorry to hear that you still have this pain/discomfort. In my family's genetics; there is a history of polyps forming in the colon. Because of that fact; I get routine colonoscopies every three years.. and there's always a few polyps that need to be removed.
I've had issues with hemorrhoids too.. but I found that "Witch Hazel" wipes.. or soaking a sterile gauze pad with it as a compress works wonders.
I buy these regularly at the local Walmart store.
I hope that you get some relief soon my friend.

Re: Then getting back on the bike...!
Thanks guys!
Roddie, I'm sorry you suffer from hemorrhoids, because in my case they don't exist anymore, I had internal surgery on both sides and they removed the venous clusters that had formed thrombosis, now it's wonderful!!....However, sometimes there is a specific place that hurts a little, I attributed it to the surgery itself, that is to say, the healing time, as time passed and this sometimes appears and disappears, then the control...and there the fistula.
Chatting with friends, I have several cases of friends who had to go through the same thing.
After my doctor gave me antibiotics, practically everything disappeared!...I mean I feel very well, now I'm without medication and in very good condition, but a fistula can open at some point and that's why the definitive solution is surgery. I have faith that it won't be much since I'm very well, but until the time of surgery we don't know exactly.
I am happy....these studies can give very serious results, and in my case, thank God, it is not serious, nor does it require urgency, but intervention is necessary.
