Re: bad compression.. how to fix it
I think someone here may possibly have asked to simply locate the compression leak first, before doing anything else...
So there was no compression leak at all?

bad compression- how do you fix it
Thanks Juan,
This thread has given us lots of fun, we sometimes forget that we all
started as raw beginners and made the same mistakes.
Do follow the good advice from these guys and you won't go far wrong.
Do enjoy your wee engines and I for one can't wait to hear of your
further adventures, trials and tribulations.
John

I'm sure we probably all fail do it but it's a good idea to look back throught the night at all the replies on a thread cos the answer may be there and one might just save a whole day looking at the wrong area.

Re: bad compression.. how to fix it
Well.. I have great news and bad news...
The great news is that the engines started with the glow head that lights. And the bad news is that the 2 glow heads doesn´t works. I say that are bad news because all of you knows that the glow head costs a lot of money.
anyone know if the glow head can be repaired?

Re: bad compression.. how to fix it
Well, I misread. I thought all 3 had been ran, with 2 flat motors and one good one.
You'll have to pic up some new glow heads Juan. Those are a consumable item unable to repair.

Re: bad compression.. how to fix it
The way around buying new Cox glo-heads is to replace the head with a plug adapter then fit a standard glo plug.
The initial cost will be about the same but the next time a glo fails all you need do is obtain a new glo pug rather than the entire assembly.

If they were new heads try cleaning them with alcohol or acetone. Also make sure the element is centered in the hole. Use a pin to do this and work gingerly.
If they were in a package for 40yrs there is a good chance factory oil has fouled them.

Did the "no compression" matter ever get resolved?

If there truly is no compression then there is no 100% proven way to solve it.SuperDave wrote:Did the "no compression" matter ever get resolved?
Heating the piston worked for me but not for Kris.

Wont have to worry about a compression loss with the standard plug adapters,,it's guaranteed unfortunately. It's a definite quick, easier, obtainable fix admittedly.
For the folks waay out in the sticks with challenging shipping terms or availability,,it's definitely the way to go.

Re: bad compression.. how to fix it
I agree with John that this thread has suffered a bad case of "drift" so I'm going to withdraw from further comment.
If the OP would care to state his present concern in a new thread, perhaps we could be of help.
Over and out.

No. The engines runs but not as the good compression engine.
