With a nod to Kim, this castor slinger is air worthy again
Castor gummy spinner and carburetor both resolved with Simple Green and Remoil. Full charge on receiver and transmitter batteries and a range test. Like being back in Florida again. Most fun I have had in a long time.
Repaired mouse eaten charging harness and snipped receiver batteries. Had to use compressed air to get all the thistle seeds out.

Looks good Bob ,say there is no place you can fly around your house ? I know i had my .40 Towers Trainer out in the field (when it was mowed ) and with the wing off did some taxies , till I realized I had the servo backwards for the throttle ( Heck no problem just reach back here and flip a switch ) And Wide open she went cross the field till I got control or it hit tall grass don't remember but it was good it had no wing at the time . That Brand new OS.40 came to life in a hurry I think i have had that plane like 35-40 yrs. and still not flown it I am sure i could make splinters out of it if i tried

Wish I had been there Eric. Some of the best times I have had while flying with buddies was when something went wrong!
When I was a member of the Hernando county Aero flyers I had that Tower 40 and the other plane with the blue tail with stars, but i mostly flew the Sterling Fledgling. Never any good, I was happy just to take off do lazy circles and land like most of the old duffers there.
How I envy Mauricio and Andras flying those little rockets.

The Tower .40 engine was a remarkable engine. This was a engine obviously being sold for less than what it cost to make, a Tower Hobbies trademark to put others out of business. When sales would climb Tower Hobbies would drop the axe and discontinue the items with no parts support. They were terrific for doing that.
The Tower .40 was a perfect match for the plane. True chrome plating which exceeded other manufacturers quality. It's a exact clone of the OS FP .40 and Thunder Tiger Magnum.40. All parts interchange. I've taken the Tower .40 internals and swapped them into some of my FP.40's. It's almost hard to believe that quality like this was offered in Taiwan. It's been said that these engines were sub contracted through a sewing machine factory. The engine runs like a fine tuned sewing machine so I can believe it. One flip starts and very good power. OS FP .40's tend to be all over the map when it comes to engine runs. Some requiring all kinds of fiddling and when you just think you got it right, a runaway engine run comes along. I do like the OS FP.40 but I have a few that need the sledge hammer treatment.

You read my mind Ken.
While I'm an Enya guy through and through, if I were honest with myself I would admit that the OS is a better engine. Easy to start - Yes! Better finished - Yes!
The two 40's were made for each other. The "Read this first" manual I never cracked. I just built the thing, it was so easy.

It is true Bob that flying 010....090 size COX powered RC planes is something of an incomparable fun....not just the flying itself but knowing that you give your decades old favorite dependable motor some well deserved flying time..
