Queen Bee, mods and performance thread.

Queen Bee, mods and performance thread.
There seems to be some interest for the Queen Bee engine and I thought we could try to collect all info, problems and solutions etc. in thread here. I'll start with some of my findings and hopefully others can add their info and experiences too.
I have seen a few design issues that needs fixing;
i) the piston can hit the reed-retainer a BDC
ii) the throttle barrel can go past full throttle
iii) the stock head with regular glow plug is a power robber.
Problem i) took me some time to identify, both cylinder and piston can hit the reed retainer and one has to remove some material here. The image below shows where I have removed material, and after running you can see that I did not remove enough material yet, the piston has still made a mark on the reed retainer;
Problem ii) is a little anoying when bench running as one is not sure what the full throttle setting is and it is hard to see through the intake screen. The fix is very easy though, I have used JB weld but soft solder should also be easy to use;
Problem iii) is easily changed as any head for the 09 engines will fit, i.e. Medallion and TD. I have not optimized this in any way but have seen some good numbers with a turbo plug head. On a 6x3 prop it will do about 5000-18000rpm on 10% nitro;

Re: Queen Bee, mods and performance thread.
Very good idea.
I did some dredging and turned out that some did use the queen bee as a diesel.
Results looked good initially but no follow up was found.

Here is picture of the crank, not sure of one if it is strong enough for diesels and small props, but on large props in a hit and miss setting it might do just fine. That's how I run my PeeWee too.

Re: Queen Bee, mods and performance thread.
Has an oddly large crank disc.
Getting on the plane now, think about it during the flight maybe do some drawings of heads and stuff.
