I quote......"Not your run of the mill Cox engine. A number of these were special built at the factory by Bill Atwood for use by the speed flyers at the 1960 Nationals. This engine has been used and the rear intake shows it. This engine has an exceptional cylinder/piston fit. The “Hop Up” rear drum valve intake needs sealing to keep it from rotating, but it is representative of one of Cox’s first really hot competition engine. This was the prototype of the TeeDee series."

Cox Speed Special Empty .15

Post  dankar04 Fri Feb 17, 2012 11:56 am

Cox made some purdy engines. Olympic/RR1/ Space Hopper/All the TD line. The .010/.020TD with gold and red super fine. Golden Bee TD .15 MK2 Special. Red tank PeeWee. Black Widow the real one. Venom /killer Bee's the real ones. My favorite is Blue/gold RR1. Then the Olympic .15/ Space hopper then/TD .010/TD .020. I made my own Venom with killer crank /TD .049 taperd #4/ polished crank/ opened venturi on metal B/W backplate and used B/W tank assembly. Sure looks nice and feels great.

That's the rear drum Olympic .15 only 20 were made and Jason has one.
Some of that info is somewhat incorrect, the space hopper was cox's first hot engine on the way to developing the tee dee line of engines.

That looks like the one that sold on eBay last month. The marks on the carb body look the same. Were you the highest bidder?
