CEF Special .049 - who would buy it?
Who would buy a CEF Special .049? What would you change on it?
(Click on drawings to see them larger)
Would like to know before having any made.
The differences between the 2 drawings above is one has a regular spinner and the other uses a Space Bug spinner and stud.
Bernie tossed one together and this is basically what it would look like.

Re: CEF Special .049 - who would buy it?
My opinion means little as I can't afford one, but I would replace the blue with red to match the forum colors.
Just a thought.
Just a thought.
Re: CEF Special .049 - who would buy it?
Has there been a decision on the price?
Not that my opinion matters much, but I think the smaller insert head would look better.
The engine itself looks good though!

Well, that was the original design but there are already engines like that so have to be different.

LOL, I should basically revert back to the original drawings. Red and black themed with a 1702 head and a DDD crank.

Nah, if y'all like it then keep it as is. I just like the smaller insert style head. Most new engines have the big Texaco Tophat style head. It would be different.

No, this is good! I want to know what people want. I only put the 5 fin hot insert head on it because you hear how everyone says they are so fantastic. Perhaps a smaller insert head and re-theme the colors for the forum.
Re: CEF Special .049 - who would buy it?
Can the Hot plug be put inside the smaller insert?

To answer your question yes I would buy it as long as the price stays reasonable.

Looks like it's dying to go on a white Ringmaster with blue racing strips.

Re: CEF Special .049 - who would buy it?
Looks pretty good! If I was to design it, I would put:
3-fin head adapter or 1702 GH
Groove the driveplate (maybe leave it silver?)
Engrave the case with CEFS13 or something
I am partial to you're original red/black themed engine to be honest
What were you thinking regarding price?

Jacob, I noticed the blue anodized SpaceBug spinner
in the parts callout. Now that would look sweet. Also allows the
use of a stud instead of a screw.

Well, if you or Bernie wanted to make and sell them... I suppose the price is up to you. There is no way I could buy 20-30 of them and part them out myself. That's basically why its been in planning so long. Just asking now if anyone would even be interested in it. I'll make a few changes to the plans and re-post them.

I hear what you're saying. In those components would be probably be looking at a $75 to $90 engine retail. If you wanted to just make a custom engine with more standard components (basically custom color scheme) it could be more reasonable in terms of price.

Re: CEF Special .049 - who would buy it?
Whay not just a nice CEF Babe Bee? I like performance just as much as the next guy, but sometimes safe and slow is OK too.
Edit: I also like the Space Bug spinner as Bob mentioned.

Re: CEF Special .049 - who would buy it?
Red baby bee tank, Black CC with laser etched CEF, black tank back, anodized grey (as in CEF Engine Forum words) Three fin head and Valentine spinner, Open port exhaust, standard crank, Bent plexe display stand
Mild discount for forum supporters, occasional give away for a contest, buy for under $55 for anyone else
Unique, cute, worthy of running or display
My .049C worth of input
I prefer round, not hex drive plates
I do like the Black n Blue Bruiser up top...sharp contrast

The colored space bug spinner, laser engraved with the forum logo would be AWESOME!
(so would the engine, but I'm being realistic here)

I've often thought about putting together a
simple looking sleeper of a BabeBee.
Stock tank with an opened intake,
DDD or Killer crank,
maybe a #4 p/l,
One of Bernie's/Matt's 1702 head(without the knurle),
Plain prop screw and washer.
Sort of a wolf in sheep's clothing.
Probably chug 5cc in a flash.

Nah, I'd pass. I've had my fill of tanked Bees. They just run out of gas before I'm finished, or either leak air and give me a headache. Sorry, just being grumpy.

Drill a hole in the tank...
Re: CEF Special .049 - who would buy it?
So far I have changed the colors back to a Red and Black theme.
I have been also tossing around the idea of maybe a tankless backplate mount engine. That engine would use a red backplate, black case, red zero drag plate (the glow head is still being worked on). I should have diagrams of both up sometime soon.
