The Breezy Hill Flyers' "Frozen Finger Fun-Fly"

The Breezy Hill Flyers' "Frozen Finger Fun-Fly"
Once again, the Breezy Hill R/C Flyers have welcomed the New Year with their "Frozen Finger Fun-Fly".
In the past, these get-togethers have had weather ranging from "Spring-Like" to "Christmas-in-the-Arctic". This time, my best descriptor would be "Raw"...overcast and windy, with a damp coldness that defied the insulating layers I was wearing.
Early in the morning, the Flyers closed off the north end of the pavilion, and fired up the salamander heaters, which actually makes the place pretty comfortable.
Our visitors were Blake and Allen, the latter driving up from the other side of Poplar Bluff to turn some rounds on Breezy Hill's Crop Circle.
President Ronnie's wife, Beth, supplied hot lasagna and fixings, and Billy brought his trademark hot apple cider.
While the winds were sort of mean, the flyers put up multiple flights in an example of the diverse forms of modeling supported by the Breezy Hill Gang. Radio Control---both electric and glow powered, Free Flight Rubber Band, and Control Line Flying took the field through the day.
As is always the case, visiting and camaraderie were what made the whole thing fun, leaving us to look forward to flying again in the Spring.

Still diggin that Shark Kim!
I have one now, actually I have 2, but one is in kit form. Let me know if you need some Jetco decals. Still running that Enya .19 on it?
Thanks for the 16 minutes of sanity. Much appreciated

Thanks Ron...yeah, it's still cranking after a pretty active 12-13 years---give or take a year. May take you up on the decal offer if the old cable dog gives up the ghost. If I DID manage to pile-drive it at some point, I'd probably have to drop everything and build another...it's become such a mainstay of my little fleet.
Yeah, it's STILL being dragged around (at a pretty good clip) by Uncle Wayne's Enya .19 that howled around it's circle in Olmsted's ball park back in the late 1960's. I think these things will run forever...or at least as long as there's someone to feed them nitro.
This is actually the Enya's THIRD stint in the nose of a Jetco Shark 15, as it powered another that I built back in the mid-70's...the sucker has made a few laps.
A couple lucky kids--Me and Cousin Bobby with Wayne's Shark .15 and Top Flite Hurricane.

Re: The Breezy Hill Flyers' "Frozen Finger Fun-Fly"
We have a club member who I only see a few times a year named Tom Schaefer. He gets it in with the Shark. His is powered with a Fox .15X which has had some mods to it. Man does it run and fly well. The Dolphin, the larger brother is also a nice plane. We were fortunate to have the chief designer Bob Clauss of Sterling models as a club member. Bob up until a few years ago was kitting the Super Ringmaster in a beautiful laser cut version. He also in conjunction with Penn Valley Hobbies of Lansdale kitting some of the Jetco kits. He produced a beautiful Dolphin. I had the prototype and it was quite attractive in white with power blue wings and a beautiful cockpit detail.
I had no more room for it and I gave it to another club member who said he was going to fly it. As usual, I will never see it again. The neat thing about these models are the size. Kim, your color choice on that plane looks pretty cool. I love the tented in canopy. I've been flying at another field and we have a small shack with a keg like wood stove in it. We had soup the other day and I just wanted to curl up and take a nap next to that stove. Ken

Re: The Breezy Hill Flyers' "Frozen Finger Fun-Fly"
Thanks again guys. We had a lot of fun in spite of the cold.
Here's the photo album of video captures I posted on Breezy's Hill's Facebook Page. A little repetitious of the slide show in the video, but slightly better photos.
Good Friends and Good Times---to paraphrase Carly Simon--"These ARE the Good Ole Days".

Ya missed the best part of that Shark Eric:
"Yeah, it's STILL being dragged around (at a pretty good clip) by Uncle Wayne's Enya .19 that howled around it's circle in Olmsted's ball park back in the late 1960's." ENYA's rule....
But, I gotta admit, that Shark has the best profile of ANY C/L model that I have seen. I love it!
These pictures go into my saved file.

Ya, well I missed it at first too Eric. But I already knew just by counting the number of turns in that coiled needle and the tightness there-of that it was an Enya .19 built in Japan on the 5th of April 1963. Any True Enya fan could tell that.
