Cox Backplate ID
Hey all. Just curious about a backplate on a Cox engine. Was told it was possibly a .020, but the head and cylinder say not. But the interesting thing is the backplate. All I knew of for a metal backplate was either one with no vent/fill nipples for the Black Widow and Golden Bee, and one with two vent/fuel nipples for a Baby Bee/Product engine. This one appears to be in great shape but with only one nipple. Has anyone ever seen this before, or am I just living under a woodpile?

Normal. Or. Abynormal? Yes, they made 1 nipple backplates, both in metal (zemack) and plastic.

Keep your woodpile dry, it burns better.

Great, thanks for that. Funny as I even posted in the topic.... I was aware of the plastic ones, but metal ones I was unsure of. Thanks again!

Re: Cox Backplate ID
Also note the small round brass driveplate, and the starter spring meant to be used with a cam plate. That should have a red cam plate with a small hole for the prop screw.
My first Cox engine is just like that one, single fuel filler and all, bought it around 1983 or 84 There is a small hole for air to come out right next to the fuel fill nipple.
I suppose that style was pretty soon replaced with the plastic back plate and hex drive plate (with the grey cam plate).
