Re: After Run?
If it is for a short time and I have a goodly percentage of castor in the fuel, I usually use nothing. For longer spans and storage, I use Marvel Mystery Oil. Some folks have indicated that Mystery Oil will congeal over time --- I store my engines in ziploc bags with almost all of the air removed --- so I've never had a problem.
I do make sure my engines are run completely dry at the end of the day and not cut off with the throttle.
Others like Marvel Air Tool oil or ATF or a 50/50 mix of Marvel and ATF.

ok, many people are going to shout at me again, but i love to give it a quick spray of wd-40.
it gets into all the little nooks and crannies and gives it a fair lubrication with a minimal amount of oil.
it also protects the metal from corrosion and such, and of course it keeps the castor from hardening.

It's fine short-term. I used it once, and after a week it stuck a little. Of course it was not in a bag.
Re: After Run?
yeah, that happens when you use it right after you ran the engine and you're packing things up.
and i like to fumble around with them when i'm watching a movie, etc, so i usually notice

What I use. You can put a piece of fuel tubing on the included syringe applicator and shoot it thru a Tee dee needle assembly and it will pass thru the motor nicely,,coating everything,,including the needle orifice/assembly.
Edit: I use a electric starter to spin it over as I inject the oil.
On the snap starters with 5-8cc tanks, you can 1/4 load the tank and give it a bunch of spins that way. Open up the needle 3-5 turns so it will pass thru easily.
Pull the head afterwards to be sure it has migrated to the top end,,if not,,repeat.
Zip-bag it and tag it, done.

Re: After Run?
And for those thinking of not using it.....
I laid my OS55 ax up for about a year, dragged it out
after it's sabatical, fuelled it up and flew for an afternoon
until it wouldn't run any more.
When I stripped it, boy what a lot of rust there was in there.
Ripmax relieved me of £85 (about130 bucks) for a new liner
and piston.
Moral after run is probably cheaper.

Yup, if the induction port on the crank stops opposite if the carb (180° off, bottom of case), you will put a ring on the crank after time, from the methanol attracting moisture right there. A ball bearing motor will severly suffer,,youll load the races and balls with rust. Once those rusted up ball bearings get ran again and start shedding those rust particle's, the balls will skid in the race, build mega heat and then gall the races with all that crud,, end result,, Kaboom!,,rod slinger!!. Then all kinds of trash goes flying thru the motor.
A couple cc's of prevention, can save big dollars.

Yep...after-run for all of mine...along with Andrews comment of always running them out of fuel at the end of the day rather than shutting them down with the throttle.

Maybe that's why I've been lucky

Long story.....
As students in my class have quipped: "For external use only"
It's a special and proprietary formula and people that have used it, swear by it.

Re: After Run?
Alright, here is the story.
In 2007 my wife wanted to open up some on-line stores (incl. eBay) for adult-oriented wear, toys and other products. For her stage name she called herself "Xena"; tying in with the fantasy about "Xena the Warrior Princess". Hence her eBay store "Xenalook". One of her products was "Xenalube".
Because she was too busy with her other ventures she never got around to that project and I took over the store and kept the name.
When I created an after-run-oil she (mischievous person that she is) suggested to call it "Xenalube"

Re: After Run?
LOL
Why too much info? It would have been a legit business
That aside, our Xenalube is completely unrelated to the "original" product and is mineral and synthetic oil based, with a multitude of additives.
I just wanted to reply to the question of "why name..." but then, perhaps I should just have shut up

Very funny but now I am gonna feel odd every time I put it in an engine!
Re: After Run?
Proper and adequate lubrication is critical in many more endeavors than just running little engines !
