Cox Sandblaster Tires
Hello ,
I am in the process of restoring a Cox Sanblaster with the intent of Radio Control with Micro components .
Ordered new engine parts , but I need tires , particually the rears , they are hard .
Have read somewhere that Tamiya has some tires that will work .
Also read to separate rims do so in very hot water .
Anyone have any suggestions or hints for this .
I will post pictures later when I am further with this construction.
Ted .

Re: Cox Sandblaster Tires
Hi Marlesky
I had a similar problem . My SB tires were split. So I took a mountain bike inner tube and cut several rings with scissors. I slipped them over the broken tire liners and have run the SB a number of times and it runs GREAT. No need to buy another complete tire. If that helps?
Thanks

Re: Cox Sandblaster Tires
Just another question. My Sandblaster is complete. Except the two side lights. Does anyone have an idea where any of the chrome sidelights are? Mine has two holes for mounting but I never had them with this SB I bought it about 10 years ago. The two holes on the front of the canopy are from some chrome halogen lights. Purely cosmetic but you know how it goes. Needs to be right!
Thanks
Ice

Re: Cox Sandblaster Tires
You're welcome GpBear
Just be careful when slipping the rings over the split tire liner. It takes lots of pressure so don't want to damage the axle. But once you get them slipped on they look and run like slicks. Pretty good if you ask me.
Thanks

OK Happy Dad , Ebay is a big shopping site , how about a link to where these are .
Now they look nice , but what about the Gear ratio driving these tires with a .049 .
Original are about 60mm in OD mounted , those look like about 90mm OD .

Speaking of Sand Blasters
While we are on the subject of Sand Blasters, here is my attempt at making an R-C version of the SandBlaster. Servo near the "steering arm", connected to a stainless steel "U" shaped piece. Another servo for the Muffler-throttle, but i need a metal clevis at the muffler end, because it gets very hot.
here is my first attempt:
steering servo to SandBlaster steering arm.

How do yo get these on?
I have read that you can soak these rims in hot water and split them. I'm not the village idiot, but I'm also not that clever. I've been looking at my rims under my super magnifier, without old tires, and I can't see a seam where they would split. What am I missing

Never mind
So i just realized you can work the Tires on without splitting the rims. They do interfere with the body work a bit but a little trim work will take care of that.
Thanks boys
