Well, a few people seem to like these test reports, so here's the first, from ...Model Aircraft July 1961

I thought I'd put them up in order of size! Besides the fact that this seems to be THE favourite Cox with members

Not at the moment, Indra, but I have a load of stuff yet to wade through, so it might be in there!

Great Stuff! I hate to ask, but is there a way to up the scan quality a bit? On my screen and saved copies, the fine print is barely readable. I realize that this is probably a pretty vast project you've started, and I greatly appreciate it, so I will gladly take the articles as-is if there's to much more trouble involved.

This very nearly deserves it's own category to keep it from getting lost in the exchanges of other threads.

Thanks greatly for doing this! Gonna have to get an external hard-drive just for the info from this and the .049 Collectors Group!

I dunno Ron's site has info on a lot of engines.
I did not expect them to have this I just want to know more about it and that's why I asked what other way was I supposed to find out?

huh, that must be the aerodynamically most inefficient engine in the world Smile

if you go for the box crank case design, why not add a square cooling head, then it would appear artsy...

Yeah,
Perhaps, to help keep it sorted and easily accessible, our comments between each Engine Posting could be dropped once the exchanges are finished, building us a solid stack of reference postings. Sometimes, the threads go so long, with new stuff sandwiched in between postings, that you've got to really scan back through a lot of stuff to find the original info...or at least that's my situation...electron-challenged as I am !!

if we'd do that, i'd probaly get carpal tunnel syndrome from deleting all these posts, i dunno...
the main topic is usually the first post anyway, so its easily accesible for reference. and if you're looking for something specific, you can use ctrl+s to search the thread or type it into the search bar int the upper right corner.

I have the same prob Kim, I will remember seeing a test report and won't be able to find it when I need it.

What I like most about them is they usually test different props and pitches and I find that useful.

Sometimes the original thread has nothing to do with what eventually gets posted. The search feature never works for me either.

i understand that, but would everyone here really have the discipline to delete their own posts after some time?
i don't beleive so, and i don't think any of us moderators want to be the "cleanup crew", so to speak.

Sorry, Kim, a lot of this stuff is already scanned when I get it, so I have no control over the definition. Also, a lot of it is a copy of a copy of a copy...of a poor original.
I have found that, especially US mags of the 50s and 60s, were printed on absolutely c**p paper, which goes VERY strange colours over the years, I often need to remove some of the discolouration before they are even legible. However, as always, I will do my best!

Not sure we are talking the same language, I was saying we should have an Advert/test report/ info section. A place where we can compile info like this for future reference. That way it's not scattered throughout the forum and hard to find. Not my idea, others have suggested it as well.

yeah,

I was just thinking-out-loud. It would probably be a bear keeping up with it. I try to cut and paste a lot of this stuff, and therefore have it sorted in my files. It's just too bad there's not a way to do a parallel comment section, right alongside these engine posts. It's all good stuff though, and well-worth tracking down.

And Wilf, please understand the appreciation I have for your posts...no criticism, whatsoever...this information sharing is absolutely great !

Ive just been looking at my black 1990s cox 010s , all have sub piston induction , on the review they state no sub piston induction, do the earlier ones have none?

Mine have always shown over 30k rpm on 25% nitro and on 30% nitro even more again , on cox 3 inc prop , the test shows lower

Is there supposed to be a difference early to late ones , it would be unusual for later ones to be better

well, some state that the earlier ones ( the reds) are superiour to the later ones (black).
i do not know that much about em, nitro is the 010 person Smile
