Happy For all Veterans

Post  happydad Mon Jul 20, 2020 8:52 pm

For all of you veterans out there. I just found out last night that my 2nd oldest GRAND Daughter, 20, graduated from  the US ARMY boot camp last Thursday. She is in the College Officers program attending Purdue. and doing great. We are so proud of her. She will make a 3rd generation college graduate in our family. We came from the farms of Kansas to build bombers during WW2, then helped with the booster rockets for satellites, and who knows what else, now at Purdue.
Thanks US Army.

That is so great and proud indeed you are, thank you for her service, and all that are on this site for their service. I am from a military family as well. My grandfather who immigrated from Germany, served in the German artillery during the rebellion of 1905. My two oldest brothers served in the Air Force during the Korean war. My sisters husband also served in the Army in Korea during the war. My oldest son served in the Navy during the Persian Gulf war, second oldest son has 12 years in the Army National Guard and had 3 deployments to Iraq. I my self served in the Navy from 1965 to 1968 on the USS Oglethorpe AKA 100, till it was decommissioned. Thank you all that served for helping keep America great.

Take him to the recruiter..... if he needs someone to tell him what the military can do for him I’d be glad to talk with him.

Thanks for those kind words. My grandfather served in the Spanish American War and is buried at Ft. Rosecrans Cemetary on Pt. Loma here in San Diego. My father tried to serve, but was a single father of my step sister and brother at the time, so went to work at Consolidated Vultee which later became General Dynamics-Convair who built war bombers like the B-24, (??), during the war and later the B-36, 6 engine bomber, F-102, F-106, delta wing fighters, the pogo stick, an attempt at vertical take off, and the Sea Dart, a jet taking off from water. I also served in the USAF. I have no sons, but this young lady is my oldest daughters middle daughter and is going to Purdue University basically for free, 5 years service in Army after graduation. Another college graduation and another veteran in the future.
Clapping  You bet I’m proud.  I was the first in my family with a Bachelor’s degree, then both my daughters, and so far 2 granddaughters are on there way. We came from Kansas farms, but who knows where we will go.

Thanks so much, everyone. I Love This Forum!
