Re: cox 049 marine parts
You don't need their cooling ring it does not work that well best is to buy some small dia. K and S tube
and rap it around the engine as shown. Thread size is 5-40 I have taken bolts with long threads to cut
to size a suitable length shaft for the coupler. This engine has a thrust washer and piano wire coupler.
What sort of boat are you using the hardware with?
You can buy Dumas .049 boat parts here:
http://www.dumasproducts.com/index.php?cPath=39&osCsid=2tsukmln6f3pprvodtginqd0t5
For 35 bucks the whole hardware running kit here:
http://www.dumasproducts.com/product_info.php?cPath=39_80&products_id=444
Note the flywheel is installed wrong the pulley for the starter belt should be on the inside to reduce wear
on startup to the crankcase. See vid the correct way to use it.
Rare captured video of a inboard / flywheel enhanced Cox .049 RC powered hydro
balsa build up with hardwood for the engine. Lacks a throttle sleeve to help on
launching and landing the boat / some throttle play is possible with the right boat.

Re: cox 049 marine parts
yea I have looked at ordering ad dumas but the shipping is more expencive then the product itself
and I do want me a removable cooling ring (local rc shop closed and i cant get small tube anymore)
and for the running kit
I only need the shaft coupler and nothing else
I have enough flywheels (also my flywheel is modified)
and small props I also have out of the wazoo

1/2A Nut,
I just watched the hydro video. You really have that boat tuned! It was a dream of mine to build one years ago. Then the running gear couldn't be found.
Now I have discretionary income (but not really a bunch of free time).
Is this boat a custom one-off job, or is it a kit/published plans? Thanks in advance...dreaming of skipping my own some day.

Re: cox 049 marine parts
Jim that's not my hydro, the guy is from Germany.
I have ran TD .051 geared / direct drive and
QB .074 all inboard and surface drive. A modern
effort made with low weight gear and thin ply
can make a robust runner under 9oz and able
to run up as a hydro pushing 40 mph.
Of course with rough water a bit more flywheel
should help the use of a throttle sleeve or RC
carb and muffler.
What kind of boat do you want to build with a TD?

Re: cox 049 marine parts
1/2A Nut,
I don't think I'd go Tee Dee. Maybe a Norvel or AP Wasp .061. I always had a thing for the little Atlas Van Lines model...the red, white and blue one.
I have seen posts over at RCU indicating this was never really a good planing model. So I was shocked to see a video of a little guy doing just that, and RC to boot! The RCU thread has the template sheet, but it is a photograph with really bad parallax errors making the template useless as a guide.
I can dream, right?

Re: cox 049 marine parts
Here:
The build log, but no maiden ( good pics on pg 7, :
https://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/speed-rc-nitro-boats-117/9144007-dumas-1-2a-atlas-van-lines-build-7.html
I doubt I'll ever build one. The last complete kit on eBay was over $100! I wouldn't be afraid to scratch one out, but I'm not going to burn time looking for patterns. I have too many plane kits...and CL planes can't run away.

What parts?
robot797 wrote:I am still looking for the parts
What parts are you looking for exactly?
Plans?
Heat sink?
Engine mount? Etc.
I have the rectangular heat sink commonly used on the cars. Works fine in most cases. Some guys wrap copper tubing around the cylinder fins and use a water system that picks up from the prop area, thru the tubing around the engine then out the side of the boat. I used this on a electric boat.
Dumas makes most of the running gear from engine thru propeller, but it is expensive now.
I have a few boat plans, but mostly home brew with sponsons (?) on either side of a narrow frame.
If you let us know what you need, maybe someone has something lying around.

Re: cox 049 marine parts
a original dumas cooling clamp or better
the propane engine makes a bit to much heat for the car cooling head
