Things that are Important...My Current "Desk Shrine"
The quality of my whole day can be set by how well the first cups of coffee go down in the hour or so after I get up.
Like a lot of guys, maybe more-so for some than others, there are several "Shrines" scattered around my house. For whatever goofy reason, I draw a great deal of comfort by sipping coffee and looking at relics, new and old, that remind me of just how stupid-lucky I am to be here and now. This has intensified in recent weeks..
My "Desk Shrine" is an active collection of items that change on a frequent basis, and I'm hoping it's not too egotistical of me to post the current edition:
1. The Black Widow...on loan from Big Otto (he's getting a Golden Bee for a while).
2. The owner I.D. tag and overflow line from the Testors "Skyhawk" Tee Bee got me for $4---(inside joke on that).
3. The tiny "Kimbie Airways" Lazy Bee, carved by Breezy Hill Flyer Billy.
4. One of the original spark plugs from my Harley Sportster...that was in the bike the Christmas night I got stopped by an Indiana State Trooper, just so he could ask me if I knew how cold it was.
So, if you've got your own Shrine, maybe post it here...got to be some of you that do this weird stuff too...I'd hate to be the only one.

A very nice assortment there Kim, as well as some great stories to go along with them.

I do some weird stuff, but I don't want to get kicked off here.
When Kathy and I started seeing each other some 4 years ago, her only comment when she visited for the first time was, "You've got that airplane crap all over the house!". Luckily, we're still together and it's still over most of the house.

Yeah, I like the photo (can't find it now) where a wife is attacking her model builder spouse and yelling, "Why can't you just look at porn like a regular husband!"

Hey you guys have some cool looking “shrines” ! Kim, I can understand why you kept that spark plug! After seeing Bob’s pictures, there is incentive to organize my Jenja stacks into viewable piles!!

yea.. I can sOoOo relate to that.. and yea; I had several shrines... before I got married. Now that I've been married a while, I've learned that I can still have a shrine or two.. .. as long as the wife isn't aware..

Roddie...maybe?........a work in progress. It's a secret!... Theres 80 plus more old bows wrapped up in storage in my RV. I was a big time Traditional bowhunter for 50+ years! 2013 was the last year I was out. My heart slowed me down some....

Re: Things that are Important...My Current "Desk Shrine"
This is my Bench Shrine at the back corner of my work bench at work. A bit different from what everyone else is posting, but still a shrine to fine people and fond memories. Everything there has a story. Most were gifts of one sort or another. Some were hard earned, some are priceless.
The background is a small part of my son's work space. If a clean and organized workspace is a sign of a sick mind, my boy is the picture of mental health.

Re: Things that are Important...My Current "Desk Shrine"
Thanks Kim and Bob..I warned you guys but you did not listen, so here it is that I call my Shrine:
My small room is largely occupied by an old cabinet that I inherited from my late father and simply do not want to remove it from here, although with Covid-19 confining me home, I would now have the time to transform this room into a real shrine of the hobby.
My RC planes powered by COX engines - including one 010, one 020, three 049-s, two 09-s - and my recently acquired Super Sport Trainer are sitting on the top of the cabinet, with their engines shrouded in plastic bags the catch occasionally dripping oil. (This is a room with carpet, anyway !!!)
Most of my 70+ engines - almost all COX, and yes, including 3 NV-s too! - are in boxes on one of the shelves of the cabinet. The balance are scattered in tin boxes, wrapped in plastic bags, sharing the tool shelf with kits yet to be built. I love the showcases many of you have for the engines, but because most of mines are in their original boxes, I feel it more authentic to let them sit in their genuine homes.

Let down Andras, I was thinking walls decorated with dancing girls and stacks of gold bullion. Looks pretty normal to me.
Andras - International man of mystery.
And Dave, Love the rat and the grenade.

That's no rat. That's a redneck Texan armadillo kicking back with a Lone Star Longneck!
The grenade will.someday be my Complaint Department "Take a Number" vendor when I find a spoon and pull ring to tie a tag to.

Wasn't sure, I only recognize Florida Armadillos. I still like it.

Ha ha Bob in fact the nude girls are painted on the wallpapers behind the cupboard!! What I meant was that the mess and disorganized storage of my modeling stuff and planes are missing the discipline a creating man like us model plane builders are supposed to have. As if I did not commit to my hobby..I somehow miss that streak of precision from my personality and do not seem to change anymore
