Friday the thirteenth

Friday the thirteenth
Exactly five years ago on 13 March 2015 at three thirty in the morning I gave my wife her last dose of morphine administered every three hours over the past day. It was the last time I saw her alive. Exhausted, I fell asleep right beside her just as I had done for the previous 58 years 8 months and 6 days. After a long and brave fight with Alzheimer's she was finally free of that terrible disease.
You would have had to know Audrey to understand the loss that this family experienced. She loved her family, loved to laugh, loved her friends. She could melt you with a smile or bring you down with a stare. She was never profane, didn't have to be, she had a vocabulary and used it. She left the most valuable thing ever, good memories. We miss her.
Yesterday, I had to put Spike down. My best bud for the last fourteen years. Mark and Terri took him to the Vet. I couldn't do it. It's the wimp in me.
Value your significant others and your pets while you have them.

Tears of happiness with tears of sorrow. They both are in a better place, leaving us only memories. Hugs for you, my friend.

Re: Friday the thirteenth
Significant dates can bring memories flooding back, both good and sad. Sadness is, unfortunately, part of life for us stricken mortals.
But tears are only for this life. We look forward to something better.
Revelation 21:4.
"He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
You're in my prayers my friend!

Thanks to all for your thoughts and sympathies and your indulgence.
Life has patted me on the back and kicked me in the butt in equal measures over my 82 years, probably the same for all members of this forum. I appreciate being a small part of this. The best friends I have that I have never personally met.

Thanks, Florida sunshine and she loved to walk. Stayed brown as a berry. At this time neighbors were aware of her problem and if she got lost they would guide her home laughing with her all the way. She always kept a positive attitude.

Re: Friday the thirteenth
Bob,
Sometimes it is very difficult to say those words that have a comforting effect at times of loss. Many times just lending an ear portrays to you our sincere condolences and heartfelt wishes.
May you find comfort in the Lord at all times.
