2x4 kit build
A few weeks ago I was surprised by an incredibly generous gift from 944_Jim. It was a House of Balsa 2x4 glider kit. Now that I have a little free time I am going to start building it. I have just recently assembled the required components. They include: a 4.8v, 300mah NiMH battery, standard switch, 2 HS-65HB servos, an AR 6100 reciever and a Cox Franken engine. The engine is basically a drum back end from a VGE RR-2 and the front end from a Valentine Speed Bee.
All these goodies come in at a hefty 4.4 ounces.
The next pictures should include parts removed from their sheets, sanded, labeled and ready for assembly.

Re: 2x4 kit build
Very nice. I will be watching this too. I have wanted a 2 x 4 glider myself for a while now since a friend at work told me about his and how nice of a flier it is. But, I have a couple planes in the hangar already so I have to wait for some space to clear up.....

Hi Fit!
I was just wondering about this one earlier this week. Glad to see it is a bit further along now. Subscribed!

Re: 2x4 kit build
I made a little more progress, today.
I got the pushrod tubes mostly installed.
I made and installed a servo tray.
I finished the bottom fuse sheeting and got the the basic equipment lay out taken care of, at least as much as possible without the plane assembled for a CG check.
Tomorrow is supposed to be rainy so I should be able to get a little more done again.

Re: 2x4 kit build
Took the engine out to find out what kind of plug will work best with the new Kamtechnic turbo plug adapter and found out the engine had been wearing in a weird way between the case to back plate fit. It behaved like the con rod was bent. I could not find anything wrong after disassembly and a visual inspection. The problem kept repeating itself after re-assembly and testing. I chose to set the back plate aside and simply replace it with a killer bee back plate. The engine is running beautifully, again. It was running steadily at 16,200 rpm on an apc 5.7x3 with three head shims, Sig Champion 25% and a merlin type drop in plug. I am very happy with that.
