I'd love to see a view of that backplate. I never knew Keil Kraft sold models. I thought he only did engines and parts. Gee, I love this forum!

Dave P,
Check out Outerzone for Keil Kraft designed balsa kits. Then stock up on lots of balsa. I'm dying to build the Radian. A guy on RCG did one from scratch, and it is very attractive! Or, the eBay repop would be nice to build.
What I find interesting is that glow plug. It looks like one of ours. ISTR a webpage that describes the similarities/diffences between that engine and our beloved Cox engines. I'll try to find it again. I either missed, or didn't know of any connection between the Cobra engine and Keil Kraft until now.
The plane itself is quite remarkable too! But I have to wonder how well it flew. I know how well Cox plastic models flew (once or twice). So I have to wonder how this one managed to stay as attractive as it is.

On the left side, click "Engines" then "Finder". Scroll down to the KK Cobra and enjoy the read. Good article by Adrian Duncan.

Thanks for this posting Mark. I didn't know that Keil Kraft produced a ready to fly model. Keil Kraft only produced one engine, the Cobra - their speciality was balsa wood kits. They did distribute the Jetex motors and many other items.
Quite a few of the Keil Kraft kits have been reengineered and produced laser cut now.
The Cobra is a very rare engine and I have not come across many.
However. plans were produced and distributed on the Model Engine News site to members for an engine called the Black Mamba utilising Cox parts.
Very similar.

It's nice to hear from you Ian. I am partial to your KK Radian RTP model. We MUST revisit!
... I thought I had photos of the earlier RTP Cox-powered version...

OK Bernie-- any interest in producing a beam mount reed valve crankcase that will accept existing Cox .049 components (i.e. postage stamp and Sure Start backplates with edges ground off)?
