Cox Engine of The Month
Christmas Train Has Arrived
Christmas Train Has Arrived
While most definately not on par of trains and quality shown in the other post, I thought I would share a couple pictures of our new train we got. It was a Christmas train that we can put around our tree. A win-win, as I was allowed to have a train, and the missus is happy as it is festive. So I did circumvent the no train thing by getting a train..... She is very happy, and I am too. It is both big and made of plastic. Each car is approximately 10" long and 6" tall, engine is battery powered, and rear caboose is battery powered for the lights in the window. Also has a plastic snap together track. Remote controlled with built in Christmas carols. Anyways, not like the real thing, but at least we have one.

Re: Christmas Train Has Arrived
Pretty neat Chancy, colorful too. Adds Christmas cheer and is traditional for model train fans to have a locomotive chugging around the base of a Christmas tree. Last year I posted a picture of one of mine hauling three Cox Space Bug Juniors, then maybe another with a RR-1. Pictures got lost when my computer crashed so I don't remember precisely.
My battery powered locomotive, a lot less grand than yours. I had to kit bash it to make it complete using the cab from a Rivorissi Bowker.
4 AA cells in parallel......

Eric, that is cool. A Mickey Mouse one would be very neat. It is great that you still have it too. I will be looking that one up later to see what they looked like.
Bob, that looks great as well. I personally like the looks of the old engines better.
I have just been busy lately, so have not really done any reading about trains yet, but one never knows. I can only see myself getting a jolt here and there playing with the electricity......

Not to worry Chancey, 16 volts AC or DC isn't going to light your fire. Your biggest danger comes when you plug in the transformer or turn on the light in your train room.

Re: Christmas Train Has Arrived
This stuff is definately interesting, not the stuff I have so much, but the read deal that the rest of you are using. I will be doing some reading up of the stuff as I mentioned earlier, just so I have a better idea and clue in case I come across seomething while out and about. If I do take the plunge in the next while, I am thinking I would like to stay with the smaller stuff as it would be easier to set-up and take down if required.

Anyone Else Have A Christmas Train?
Just throwing this out there. Does anyone else have a Christmas Train that they put out in or around the tree? Would love to see what we all can come up with.

Re: Christmas Train Has Arrived
Happens Chancey, every year but I have heard of people that keep a tree up all year long.
One of the nicest Christmases I recall was in Virginia Beach. Mom and Dad arrived along with my brother and an aunt and our three children were just at that golden Santa Claus age. Wife and Mom baked a turkey with trimmings and pumpkin pie. All stayed nights at a hotel on the beach lessening confusion. Christmas wrappings and gifts everywhere with flash blubs going off.
