Re: Wanted: Firewall & tank for Super Sport Trainer PLUS Landing Gear
On our sketch the tank looks like it is a separate part but can't be 100% sure.
I would say that's the firewall in a different colour but believe that the Super Sport Trainer had a twin in a different colour (the SST is purple). Colour should not matter as the customer just wants to put his airplane back together. He does not want to fly it, so the tank is not that important.

that correct part, they were also molded in yellow.
Re: Wanted: Firewall & tank for Super Sport Trainer PLUS Landing Gear
I have the purple firewall without the tank Bernie. It is yours free but where should I mail it?

Re: Wanted: Firewall & tank for Super Sport Trainer PLUS Landing Gear
Thanks Andras and you will definitely get paid for it. Is it new or used and, if used, what condition?
Re: Wanted: Firewall & tank for Super Sport Trainer PLUS Landing Gear
No problem Bernie it came with an engine mounted on it but I do not use it. It is used but the screw threads are OK and no cracks. I will put it in an envelop to your address on Thursday ( I am abroad currently)

Thanks Andras and shall see how much the buyer wants to pay for it.
Re: Wanted: Firewall & tank for Super Sport Trainer PLUS Landing Gear
Also looking for a landing gear assembly for that aircraft.

Not sure what your postage cost is but just spoke with the buyer and he figures around $10 if it is used.

Re: Wanted: Firewall & tank for Super Sport Trainer PLUS Landing Gear
...even worse...it fell into its atoms when I tried to glue it...probably your customer would have ended up with it like I did...at least nobody paid a dime for it and no frustration..old plastics age and respond with a catastrophy if you attempt to wake them up after long storage..
Too bad and again, sorry

Re: Wanted: Firewall & tank for Super Sport Trainer PLUS Landing Gear
Sorry to hear that Andras and no worries. Old plastic gets brittle and likely what happened to the customers as well. Shall let him know that we are still looking but perhaps we can get one 3D printed, so don't throw away the part yet as it can maybe be used as a sample.
Thanks so much for the effort, however.

Re: Wanted: Firewall & tank for Super Sport Trainer PLUS Landing Gear
Unfortunately 3D printing for one unit is not a viable option, so we shall keep looking. Thanks all the same Andras.
Re: Wanted: Firewall & tank for Super Sport Trainer PLUS Landing Gear
Thanks, Bernie,
my bad..with proper storage this old part could have been saved for the next owner..nothing is more annoying than damage caused by our own carelessness...but I did not think the screw left in the thread will rise a stress that the brittle plastic will not endure.
Good luck searching, I sometimes see the same engine-firewall combo on ebay...these are typically from Super Sport trainers that the original owner crashed early - leaving the engine in as-new condition -, and are now sold with the engine still mounted on the firewall...even if only the firewall is sought by your customer, it may be worth buying the combo including a slightly used, genuine production engine from the 70-s that is a real gem.

Yeah.... it's just a favour to a potential buyer, hoping they will buy something else as well for us.
Re: Wanted: Firewall & tank for Super Sport Trainer PLUS Landing Gear
Looks like I missed out also. The guy who had one posted FS on Facebook has not responded to my requests, so I’m guessing he doesn’t want to sell it.
We’ll keep looking...

Yes that pink firewall is from a Super Sport Trainer we are talking about. I am just gasping for air Kari...how do you disvover these COX deposits in Europe?
I would never have expected COX stuff just laying around for sale in Europe.

Re: Wanted: Firewall & tank for Super Sport Trainer PLUS Landing Gear
Andras, I spotted these for sale on the "Cox engines buy, sell, trade" (or something to that effect) Facebook group. I think the same guy advertised his stuff here too, he was offloading a rather large amount of engines and associated bits and bobs. He also had a cheap Tee Dee .049 with a diesel head and busted mounting lugs, I hesitated and missed that one It would have made a great starting point for a custom engine.
Anyway, one may be surprised of what can be found in the drawers and old toolboxes around the world. Most of my collection is sourced via the local model airplane forum and buy/sell sites here in Finland, with a few exceptions from the USA, England and this lot from Denmark. I don't do ebay yet, and a lot of US sellers say they only ship in the US, so it keeps my engine accumulation (and spending) at a reasonable level
I might get into ebay soon, since I just can't seem to find the missing pieces otherwise. Not even anything super rare, but a Golden Bee, Medallions .09 and .15 and maybe a used Tee Dee .09. Other than that I have pretty much everything I want.

Re: Wanted: Firewall & tank for Super Sport Trainer PLUS Landing Gear
Kari,
We would be interested in the firewall, provided it is in good shape.
BTW, European countries are major markets for us and the majority of our sales are to non-North American markets.

Re: Wanted: Firewall & tank for Super Sport Trainer PLUS Landing Gear
Took me a while to remember where I had the part stashed
Unfortunately, mine is not perfect either. There is a crack between the screw holes and the edges, and also one of the top mounting ears is cracked. You may see a faint light line in the third picture, but it is cracked all the way through, only about 1/8” (or maybe less) of plastic keeping it together.
See the photos... I guess this would be better than nothing at all, and an improvement compared to a part that is in two or more pieces, but it is definitely not airworthy. Might be rescue-able for a static display, maybe, with some CA glue. Let me know what you think Bernie. I don’t need this part, so it is yours if your client wants it, otherwise I’ll just put it back in the little ziploc with other odds and ends
As a side note, there is an outward thrust angle incorporated to the design, and the engine is mounted off-center, probably to keep the spinner on the centerline of the model. Pretty nifty.
