Wanted - .049 Dragonfly throttle/muffler assembly
Hi all, I need a throttle and muffler that fit over the cylinder. The dragonfly used it. My club requires mufflers...
I would like to trade... The engine in my avatar... or a product engine with slotted screen?
Thanks, Matthew

Re: Wanted - .049 Dragonfly throttle/muffler assembly
I did not see one - just the throttle and muffler by themselves. I was looking for the kind where they are together.
Or does the dragonfly use 2 separate pieces?

Re: Wanted - .049 Dragonfly throttle/muffler assembly
Ok thanks. I already have a throttle ring (or something that looks like one) so I just need a muffler now?
Re: Wanted - .049 Dragonfly throttle/muffler assembly
No the ring on the mufflers is different to what you have.
Re: Wanted - .049 Dragonfly throttle/muffler assembly
Ohsnap. This cr*p is expensive!!
So I'm still looking for one.

I have - it's sickening....
Looks like I'm sticking to WOT product engines.
Re: Wanted - .049 Dragonfly throttle/muffler assembly
check on English ebay our .010 cost a lot but .049s regularly go for less than £5 i recently bought a surestart for £4
Re: Wanted - .049 Dragonfly throttle/muffler assembly
The "seller". nah, the "producer" bears the expense of production. Once produced the "seller" comes into play. If the demand for product is insufficient BOTH suffer.

I'm not sure if I would be able to. It's rather confusing.
Re: Wanted - .049 Dragonfly throttle/muffler assembly
That, among other things. I suppose I could try...
Re: Wanted - .049 Dragonfly throttle/muffler assembly
This Babe Bee HAS the throttle/muffler on it! $30 buy it now!!!! If you want the throttle/muffler, this is not a bad price since you are probably looking at $13+ for the throttle/muffler alone and about $15 for the engine alone.

Re: Wanted - .049 Dragonfly throttle/muffler assembly
Ouch, $20 for just the muffler! http://www.ebay.com/itm/120764866059?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649#ht_1192wt_1272
Re: Wanted - .049 Dragonfly throttle/muffler assembly
The babe bee never sold, so I'll contact the seller about it.
Re: Wanted - .049 Dragonfly throttle/muffler assembly
Pardon my ignorance: Couldn't the muffler be home-made? Guys have been making them for .40's for years out of "Mousse Cans". The production cox "muffler" is just a tiny donut-shaped can that slips over the cylinder. If the original poster already has the rotating throttle part, how hard would it be to fabricate the muffler to fit over the throttle? Just cut up an aluminum can, add some fiberglass tape and epoxy. It can be made any size or shape, and might wind up being the best one at the field.
There are a couple more for sale on money-bay:

Re: Wanted - .049 Dragonfly throttle/muffler assembly
Hi,
the rotating part for a cylinder that does not have muffler is different from the one that fits over the muffler. This means that they cannot be put together.

I do not understand your statement. Nothing goes "over the muffler" as you have said. There is a throttle sleeve that goes over the cylinder (see image below). The sleeve rotates so that ports on the sleeve line up with the cylinder exhaust ports for full throttle, or the sleeve rotates to cover up the exhaust ports for partial throttle or to fully stall the engine.
The Cox production throttle/muffler is a sleeve, as decribed above, covered by a small donut-shaped chamber (the muffler) that serves to quiet the output exhaust noise. See animation (or link) of the Cox Dragonfly below.
If someone already has an engine, and a throttle sleeve. They should be able to fabricate a small chamber (the muffler) using a cut up soda can or hair mousse can, some fiberglass tape, and a bit of epoxy, and attache it to the existing sleeve. The chamber could be made very light, and any size desired. It could wind up being the best 1/2A muffler at the field.
Cheers! Paul.

Re: Wanted - .049 Dragonfly throttle/muffler assembly
Yes but the throttle sleeve used on un muffled engines differs from the one used on muffled engines so the stock muffler cannot be put over but yes you could make one.
Found one!
For $25 I am purchasing an older with the dragonfly throttle and muffler assy. You'll see an engine or two for sale soon. Just too expensive.
