Cox Engine of The Month
Does this Tee Dee look like it might have a bent crank? I was thinking of bidding on it.

Look at picture #3
I wanted to try and buy it until I noticed the driveplate looks crooked. It's covered by eBay buyer protection, but his listing says no returns. Think I should drop it? 3 hours to go.

Well it is a very nice engine so I doubt the crank is bent

I think the drive plate was installed incorrectly.
Re: Does this Tee Dee look like it might have a bent crank? I was thinking of bidding on it.
Well Rusty,
The driveplate may just not be pressed on well, or the crank may be bent there are a few tool marks on it so someone may have tried to pry it off with pliers and were unsucessful...... not much help eh?
That cylinder however, is not a stock piece. It could range from a dual bypass with boosters like Bernie/Matt sells to a basic surestart.

I think it is oddly worn.
That is a very unique tee dee!
Slit exhaust and look at the needle valve from a medallion.

It looks like the collar is just deformed a bit, like if someone stuck a screwdriver between the collar and plate to pry the plate off.
Re: Does this Tee Dee look like it might have a bent crank? I was thinking of bidding on it.
I keep looking. I'm thinking now the top part has a shadow and we see his beige background through the bottom. Either way, it's a big gap. The needle valve looks just like my fine thread needle on my other TD. I'd have to get a new cylinder. The price is over $20 now, I might blow this one off. My next one is NIB, so I doubt if I can get it. But there are a couple more tomorrow night.

I think this may be what we used to call a "Bitsa" as in bitsa this and bitsa that! Who knows what may lurk within?! Personally, I think that unless it goes for a very low price I'd be VERY cautious. I'm amazed that it has seven bids on it.

Yep. The more I looked, the uglier it got. I'll wait for the next one.

The only thing on that engine that is worth anything is the KK needle valve.

It appears the owner couldn't decide if he wanted a performance or budget engine

i thought all tds had open exhaust, parts engine as mentioned earlier for 22.00 1 hr left some good parts though

They do all have open exhaust. I'm going to let it go and wait for the next one. I don't want to have to buy a new cylinder for $14.95.nitrosmeller wrote:i thought all tds had open exhaust, parts engine as mentioned earlier for 22.00 1 hr left some good parts though

Yep, it looked a bit sketchy. Maybe some hard landing ground rash on there.
