Hondurans? They're all in Tijuana or Ciudad Juarez. Or Nancy Pelosi's neighborhood.

Ron I lost all contacts decade ago...there is a very large expatriate community* in Honduras...just gotta believe some play airplane
*back in the 90s we considered retiring to Costa rica, Honduras, Panama, or Belize....
LOTS of US soldiers exposed during Noriega years...exchange rates made 99 year leases very lucrative

Ecuador too. Big US contingent there for the reasons you noted.
Victor, you break me up!

Fred,
What do you mean "LOTS of US soldiers exposed during the Noriega years?" I was stationed at Rodman, then.

From Here in Texas the Fort Hood III Army Corps sent loads and loads of soldiers into the region to set up logistics, compounds of stuff, Bases of soldiers, airfields, docks and ports all in advance of going to enforce sanctions against Manuel Noriega... thousands of soldiers
Exchange rates in several of the central American countries are very very favorable. and in some areas enough stability to seriously consider homesteading as ex patriots
Know more than a few warrant officers who retired to the region and instantly became "El Padron" in the little village where they built a massive 4000 sq foot home with wrap around veranda for very cheap
If you speak the local language you can live very high on your meager Military retirement pay
Belize won independence from the British in 1947 and have a english speaking population and British type law and court system...down side is lower exchange rate so of all the central american countries it is the higher cost of living for ExPats
I (Used to) know guys in Costa Rica, Honduras, Panama, and Belize....and one old crusty Colonel in Peru

When you used the word "exposed" You kinda scared me. I started to wonder what else my dear Uncle Sam might of done to me that will show up later.
