Cox Engine of The Month
This and that
This and that
Hit the damaged Aurora Fokker D7's decals early this morning with Easy-Off oven cleaner. Takes off decals like right now without damage to the underlying plastic.
Just spray it on wait a few minutes and brush or wipe it off.
Not so good was testing the mightily screwed up but rebuilt Cox Mercedes disaster getting it ready for car day.
Fuel, fire, and compression gave a resultant wrong direction pop which loosened the flywheels machine screw. Darn, got to pull it all apart finding out why they put a stunt tank in these as a full tank of fuel dumped on the driveway and me when I turned it over to remove the screws. As I said, mightily screwed up as it does not have the correct stunt engine in it.
Blue locktite solved the loose machine screw problem. Then it wouldn't start. I cranked on the right side wheel until the octagon shaped axle wiped away the same shaped plastic wheels inner hub. So I switched to the left side. Still no joy.
Who said tether cars are fun?????????
Pulled the engine, got it to run great off the prime. Time to pull the tank and dump more fuel. I think a new reed is in order.
Frustrated I grabbed the chain saw and hit the downed trees......again.
Totally pooped about one PM, I showered and napped not seeing daylight again for two hours.
Son-in-law is bringing over his bull dozer tomorrow and together with my son we will clean up that mess. Son-in-law wants the lumber for a garage he's building. My daughters will provide refreshments.
Big day tomorrow. No hobby fun?
Bob

Re: This and that
Looks like you had one busy day. On the bright side, at least you can go outside and do something. Cold, windy, and lightly snowing here keeping me inside yet again today!

Re: This and that
You probably already know this Bob, but Easy Off is excellent for removal of vacuum plated chrome on any plastic model prior to preparation of new chrome.

Im going to be removing chrome on cox plastic to rechrome and was wondering about the oven cleaner, some are lye and some are another formula.
I soaked some small parts in fuel and like I thought it removed the chrome rather quickly.

Re: This and that
Easy-Off is lye based according to the label, Sodium Hydroxide if my memory is correct.
Glow fuel will remove paint, decals, and chrome over time. But with Easy Off it's quick, five minutes or less.
I used a different approach this time. I sprayed a little in the top cover and brushed it on the labels only. Does the job and not so messy.
I don't understand why the engine didn't run. Nice clean rotating old time star reed is in good shape.
Took the three of us about seven hours to cut those trees into 12 foot sections and dispose of the branches. Smarter than me he brought the front end loader/backhoe. Much better suited for the job than the dozer.
Nice having kids around that know how to do things.

Good to see you got help with the tree downed removal , on the engine sounds like your not getting fuel through the needle assy. I would ck. that with the B-plate off i just take a piece of hose and see if you can blow air through it from needle inlet / cover the Vent hole in back / if not its stopped up . At least U tried i am working on my stuff
