It happened 50 years ago: the Concorde's first flight
It was in fact yesterday, 50 years ago, on 2 March 1969 that the Concorde flew for the first time. It is a magnificant supersonic airplane, fruit of a Franco-British coorporation.
I had the chance to see the plane a few times. Once on the tarmac at Heathrow while sitting in another airplane. I also saw it flying overhead during take off when I was in Weybridge, South of London. And a third time I saw the plane approaching the runway at Charles De Gaulle. When driving on the motorway from the north to Paris, you drive under the runway and landing aircraft can be observed very well.

Absolutely THRILLING Lieven! I was 9 years old 1n 1969.. and remember the debut of this marvelous aircraft. I have a hardbound book "The Concorde Story" by Christopher Orlebar.
I would place this aircraft in the same class as the Lockheed SR-71.. of which I also hold in very high regard. These were back in the days of analog-aviation.. if you catch my drift..
