Well, second actually....

I had to maiden it first after the TD .049 and wing tank rework. Flew ok, but does not like being jerked around so 8's were out. I also turned the needle two clicks richer for this flight. Wish I hadn't as it took a bit to spool up. It seems to pick up speed when inverted as well, not really able to fix that as the tank is sealed into the wing!

It will work well enough for the contest at any rate. Thanks for the TD Doug it works well.

Ron

I enjoyed that but thought how dizzy I would get! When your video had finished (I full screened it!) - up popped this! I know it has been mentioned before.

Yeah, if you look closely you can see me wobble a couple times. Very Happy

Can a moderator fix the stupid video so it comes up on the screen instead of a mobile link? Please....

You say it doesn't like being jerked around, what does that mean? Are you losing line tension?

If you can figure out a way to fix that and make it work I would be grateful. I tried to edit my original post 7 times to make it work.

Thanks, I managed to knock out some eights tonight. As long as I go slow and don't jerk the handle the plane flies through it ok. The speed is very quick and that's with a 6x3 rubber duck. I may go to an MA for the next flight and trim down to 5.5.

I am liking this plane finally!!!!

Definitely. I've found that for stunts with a Tee Dee, 5.5 is good, but still drops some RPMs in the stunts. If you had more space, a 5.25 or 5 would let the Tee Dee really be a Tee Dee. 5.5 is pretty fast on 35'. Remember my Traveling Prop Day flight? That was a 9 ounce plane.

There are APCs that will keep the Tee Dee screaming without bogging, but still move your plane at a manageable speed. I don't like APCs but they do serve a purpose, and if you need RPMs without blinding speed, a lower than 3 pitch APC is one answer. I've been flying my Norvel Streak on 35' at the church, doing 25k rpm and very manageable speed with a 6x2. It doesn't even know it's doing a loop. I think a 5.5x2 for the TD would be sweet on the Bean.

Does APC make a 5.5x2?

Ron

I can handle the speed, but any faster would be hairy!

I have one, and I don't recall ever cutting down an APC because of the complex shape. I probably edited that post 4 times while you were reading it, but I see you got the gist. I'll go look at the numbers on it.

I just went and checked. It is a cut down 6x2. Probably not a true 2 pitch any more, but it looks like a good cutting job. I'd forgotten I did that. I do have a genuine 5.5x2.5.

2.5 pitch just might be what the doc ordered. I'll grab one here soon.
