Re: You got to see this!
I have quite a bit invested in this collection so please don't waste your/my time with lowball offers
The above statement in his listing is what makes me believe that this person will be challenging to deal with if the auction does not go as he has planned.
One could have shipping, packing, etc all arranged and he could still rescind.
Personally, I do not believe the 10k incl shipping is going to happen. We will see in 2 days lol.

Re: You got to see this!
Ah but eBay can chase him down if he does not want to go through with it.
He should have just put a reserve on it!

Re: You got to see this!
He did leave a phone number.... A phone call would never hurt. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Re: You got to see this!
eBay does not chase anyone down. They simply record a policy violation on an account. Depending on your status you get a certain # of "freebies" every 3 months before they take action (account restriction or suspension).
I did leave the fellow a message to call me back.

Hmm I had an eBay problem this year with a 1/8 hobao truggy and they got my money back and settled it in under a day.
Re: You got to see this!
I was referring to the fact if the buyer rescinds, not if he takes the money and runs.
Also, it is not eBay that gets your money back, it is Paypal.
Furthermore there is no guarantee that one will get a refund if the seller has emptied his/her Paypal account.
The "guarantee" is essentially a sham. The Powerseller discussion boards are full of sad tales where Paypal finished the refund claim by stating " if we are able to recover more funds from the seller at a later time...

Good call!
Re: You got to see this!
BTW, the purchase would not be covered by eBay/Paypal. Below a partial C&P of their terms
13.3 Ineligible Items. PayPal Purchase Protection only applies to PayPal payments for certain tangible, physical goods. Payments for the following are not eligible for reimbursement under PayPal Purchase Protection:
• Intangible items, including Digital Goods
• Services
• Real estate, including residential property
• Businesses
• Vehicles, including motor vehicles, motorcycles, caravans, aircraft and boats
• Custom made items
• Travel tickets, including airline flight tickets
• Items prohibited by the PayPal Acceptable Use Policy
• Items which you collect in person, or arrange to be collected on your behalf, including at the retail point of sale
• Items that violate eBay’s Prohibited or Restricted Items Policy
• Industrial machinery used in manufacturing
• Items equivalent to cash, including prepaid or gift cards
• PayPal Direct Payments
• Virtual Terminal Payments
• Personal Payments
And here another gem: PayPal may find in favor of the Seller for an Item Not Received claim even if you did not receive the goods.

Re: You got to see this!
Somethings funny with the bidding on this one. Two bids for $3000 one on 22 and one on 20th the one on the 20th is the high bidder. Maybe I missed something?

Re: You got to see this!
That is how eBay's proxy bidding works
n***6 put in a bid over $3,000 on Jan. 17
w***e but in a bid of $3,000 on Jan. 22
eBay proxy bid from n***6 set in and w***e was outbid.
BTW the fellow has not yet returned my call.

Re: You got to see this!
Bernie,
I see, however shouldn't the high bidder have a bid of at least $3000.01 or something?
The guy is probably being bombarded with calls and is tired of replying or answering. He did post his phone number though.
How on earth did you obtain the ID of the high bidder?
BTW, thank you kindly for the product engine!

Re: You got to see this!
No, w***e put in a bid of $3,000 and his bid is registered as such. He would then have gotten a message "You were outbid. Place a bid of $3,050 or higher".
I seriously doubt that he is being bombarded with calls and, even if, he listed his phone # and, if he really expect to get 50k, should hustle and get calling.
Buyer ID: I have enough clout to pull in favours
You are welcome on the engine.

Re: You got to see this!
I don't think he put up a starting bid. Probably to just see how high it goes and then he can recind if he doesen't like what he is seeing or where it ended at. Just the fact that he didn't put up a starting/required bid make me think,,Hmmmm.
For me, that is a questionable deal,,just to many variables that fall quickly away from your/our favor.
It started at $9.99.

I am hoping he called you Bernie......

I hope so too!
Or at least someone on this forum, I want to see how that .010 with throttle ring turns out.

Re: You got to see this!
Looks like he ended the auction early and cancelled all bids. Either got cold feet or sold off-eBay. Or, the auction will re-surface as this is the second time he has run same.
No, he did not call me.
Also, there is nothing wrong with starting auctions real low - that is the way I do all mine.
Years ago, when I was still auctioning of "hot" new vehicles, I would start all my auctions at $9.99. Prowlers, Vipers, H2's, etc.

Re: You got to see this!
Start most of mine at 0.99 I find it attracts buyers who then fight amongst themselves.
Re: You got to see this!
Is there any penalty by eBay for starting an auction and then pulling it before it finishes?

Re: You got to see this!
Ebay is okay with ending an auction early as longs as it's less than 12 hours from the ending time.

Re: You got to see this!
No penalty except for the intitial listing fee, which is pennies.
However, it is bad business practice and what usually happens is that your customers stop bidding on your auctions (because you are unreliable). This means less bidders and usually lower end pricing.
Also, if you do this often enough, especially with the solicitation "call me so we can do this off-eBay" you might wake up one morning NARU (No longer A Registered User).

Re: You got to see this!
Blame it on me I guess. I sent winngo this question at about 10am PST yesterday.
"What do you consider a lowball offer???. I see "guarantee" there, but are you going to recind the sale if it doesent go for what you think you should get".
I was just curious, didn't mean to tick the guy off and make him yank the sale if that's what happened.
