You got to see this!
Might be the coolest collection ever. I could barely wrap my mind around all this stuff. Over 500 vintage unbuilt models and over 175 engines mostly Cox and many NIB.

Someone on here has to dig deep and win that auction! At the price it is at now, you could make a lot of money selling out all those engines piece by piece!
Re: You got to see this!
Something smells ripe with his description. Worth $40 to $50K yet has no time to devote to selling on ebay. And has a no reserve auction that is at $3k currently?
Anyone call the number in the description?

No doubt Matt, I almost got sick to my stomach after I saw all that!
Jacob, those engines are worth a small fortune but all those vintage kits put me over the edge!

I don't think it's a hoax, it's local pickup so you should get what's in the pics. I didn't call as it's out of any realm of possibility for me.
The guy selling is probably older and has little time on his hands. It woul take a lifetime to collect all that! What a shame to have to sell it all.

Re: You got to see this!
You right in that it smell ripe, but only because the stuff is worth no where near that amount, I think the guy is wishful thinking. He probably started to eBay them (selling the nice stuff first) and quickly realized its was not easy and not cheep. Shipping costs on the longer length kit boxes and then the additional boxes to ship the boxes in are not cheep. You can charge for shipping, but ultimately it will affect the total costs.
Plus, remember eBay (feebay) will take about 15% right off the top. You can list anything with no reserve and end it when ever you like. I'm not saying it's not a nice collection, but 40k...

sell off the engines....and plane kits He does have a bunch of engines, but the kits would probably fetch a higher price per piece.
Yeah, 40K sounds a bit much. I would be surprised if it reaches 10K+
Re: You got to see this!
I something really rare there!
I see a throttled tee dee .010 and it looks a lot like one of Leroy Coxs prototype sleeves!

Make it a contest. I say he will get about 8.5K for it
I know it is worth more, but you will not get it when you list it like this. To less information for all the items.
A buy it now should be better, with all the lists included en the opportunity to pay a visit. You wouldnt buy a car without a testdrive.
Re: You got to see this!
What a shame. Alot of neat stuff there and someone is going to get a really good deal so long as it doesent get too crazy.
It could snipe out to $10-15K,,but I'll put up the winning bid as 7K. (not bidding, just guessing)

Long haul
Thats an awfully long haul for a couple cox engines, thats all I saw that I would want out of that lot. I wonder how many kits have all but turned to dunst in the box?
You may be suprised how low that goes for,it`s already more that I would pay

Not to mention getting thrashed around and handled from U-haul to storage stacking, ect. Alot of dried out balsa wood there I would imagine.

Yes hhhmmm is that an invitation to go into business with you ? lol
I know I wish I could do that too it would be cool.
Maybe we could open a museum
Re: You got to see this!
I am quite sure the auction is legit but the seller might end up with a big surprise (low top bid) as that is what generally happens with pallet-sized auctions.
Also, he is in violations or eBay's TOS and, if he gets reported, eBay will shut down the auction.
I personally would buy the lot for 10k but I sense it will be a nightmare to convince the seller to get a pallet, stack and shrink-wrap it all for trucking.

Re: You got to see this!
SOmeone should tell the seller that this auction could end in a big disappointment for this guy...I kinda feel sorry for him. If it is his lifework and it will end 5x times lower as hoped for. Maybe he is ill and just have to sell it.
Re: You got to see this!
A realistic scenario is that the auction ends too low for him and he rescinds - another EB policy violation.
Re: You got to see this!
Bernie I say it goes for 6000 so if oyu bid maybe 7000 and then 3000 to sort out shipping.
Sounds pretty good to me.
